I encourage you to consider Colonial Gardens Memory Care if you are evaluating memory care communities for your loved one. I don’t have enough words to express the appreciation I have for the care and comfort they provide to my dear Dad in the Columbia SC (Lexington County, Richland County) location. My family is grateful for the day we walked in and met the people in CG. From the first conversation about the community, the philosophy, and the care, we knew we had come to the right place. The personal style, the team’s commitment, and the whole CG community of workers, residents, and families brings our family peace and comfort in many moments. They treat Dad as a person with a big life and a personality. They talk to him, listen to him, and understand his personal wants and needs. Our family visits daily and we are always greeted with a smile and encouragement. The care provided is more than we could ever have asked for. The nurses and aids, kitchen staff, cleaning and maintenance, activities team, receptionist, and management – every person is kind and caring to the residents, the family, and to each other. The food is appealing, and the activities are varied to make sure there is something that everyone can enjoy. They have guest performers providing music, monthly birthday celebrations, and bus trip for those who want to participate. This is not just a place for Dad. We feel part of a community of people who care for my Dad and also care about us.

My mother has been at colonial gardens for the past 9 months and we could not be more pleased. The activities staff lead by Monica always provides a variety of fun activities and encourages the residents to participate. My mother has gained 15 much needed pounds due to the nutritious meals provided. Jackie and Burnett always keep us informed of her medicine needs. Her room is always immaculate due to the dedicated cleaning staff. Mr Ed, the maintenance director is always so friendly and helpful. I can't leave out the management team of Daryl, Max and Teresa. They are always available and treat the residents as family. Dementia progression is so hard to watch but we are thankful for the peace of mind Colonial Gardens provides. My mother is loved and cared for by all of these special people.
Having a family member needing an assisted living / memory care facility is SO difficult. After much research and prayers by my mom, sisters and me, Colonial Gardens was chosen for our dad. Such a hard decision for my mom, yet the best decision for our dad. The staff is so fantastic here! It took dad a bit to get adjusted, which was extremely difficult to watch, but CG has been amazing! Being able to pop in for surprise visits is great, as you get to see the staff in action at any given time. They always have super activities for the residents: taking them fishing, taking them to get ice cream, have sing-a-longs, taking them to the state capitol, etc - so many wonderful ideas! Any time my mom has had a concern or question, they make sure mom feels heard and address it. Daryl, Katie, Monica, Tresa, Bernette, etc - they are all fantastic. I would name more wonderful names but I only get to visit every couple months as I live out of state. It's a bit tougher on the weekend crew, as staffing is lighter, yet we all feel very grateful for the care dad is receiving. It was heart wrenching to have to make this decision for our dad, but it was the best decision for him. Thank you, Colonial Gardens!
We are very happy with the care my husband receives. From the top management to the care team to the cleaning team, they are friendly, responsive to his needs and answering my questions. It takes special people that are compassionate and understanding of the disease to care for our loved one. There are a variety of activities and outings to keep our loved one engaged and active. After visiting other facilities, I knew this was the best place for my husband for the quality of care and the quality of staff. Thank you so much....I know he is in good hands!
I have been a part of volunteering as well as working with their wonderful staff at Colonial Gardens since 2019. They are dedicated to making their residents happy. Daryl McNair is incredible and we couldn’t be happier to be having him as one of our monthly guest speakers.
