The Colonial Courtyard staff are very careful to follow all of their state regulations. They take every effort to keep their live-in customers safe at all cost. I have a loved one residing in this facility and if I need to speak with a staff member concerning her care, I am always able to reach someone and a resolution promptly occurs. Thank you to the wonderful staff and administration at Colonial Courtyard at Clearfield, PA for the great care and service they provided to my Father for the year he spent with them. This is the best assisted living facility in the Clearfield area without question. The staff were always patient, attentive, helpful, and caring, and provided a level of care and flexibility that you can only hope for in a commercial facility. The administration was always flexible and willing to work with us at every turn from my Father’s check in through his passing at the age of 99. Thank you for your support and care for my Dad. We could not have asked for more.
Both my parents resided at Colonial Courtyard in Clearfield. My father was there for about three years until his death in 2022. He always had great things to say about the facility and especially the staff. He so enjoyed interacting with everyone. My mother is currently a resident. Although she has dementia, she always has nice things to say about living there and how nice the people are. I have seen this first hand since 2019. They both received excellent care. I have not encountered a single staff person who did not enjoy their job and more importantly their residents. It is great comfort for me knowing they were and are being cared for by the best. I have never regrated having them live there.
First of all let me say that I appreciate the staff at Colonial Courtyard. They are attentive and caring and treat the residents like family. My problem lies with upper management. After an increase of about 8% in January, residents received a letter in February stating there was an administrative error and the cost would be adjusted to reflect about a 25% increase. In my father's case this amounts to a $1025 per month increase. There was no explanation, just a letter and a new contract. When my father entered into Colonial Courtyard, I was told the annual increase was between 3-8%. After talking with the regional director, she said this large increase was due to cost of care. Nothing has changed with the care! She tried telling me they pay double what other facilities pay, which I am sure is not true. If this were the case, they would not have the turnover they have. They really have no competition in the area and therfore, I feel they can charge whatever they want. When they charge what most residents in Clearfield do not even come close to earning in a year, something is definitely wrong. If you are considering Colonial Courtyard for you loved one, I would require them to commit to what their annual increase will be. It is very sad that they do this to the elderly. Shameful!
The staff are wonderful and caring. I feel that my Dad is safe and well cared for. The facility is beautiful! He gets to participate in activities and socialize with others frequently throughout the day, which is very important. I love seeing his smiling face on the posts on social media. So glad he is a part of this community!
