Clarendale Memory Care is top notch! The direct care staff, Ms. Jackie, Ms. Lattice, Ms. Nettie, Ms. Tarea, and Ms. Tasha, care for our dad as if they were a member of their own family. We are beyond grateful for the care they provide. They all have taken the time to get ho know my dad and treat him with kindness and dignity. And the new director of memory care has been helpful as well as well; she’s working to ensure residents and staff are well cared for. We feel fortunate to have found Clarendale!

I am extremely pleased with my decision to move into Clarendale Clayton for independent living. My apartment is perfect in size and complete with everything I need to emulate living at home !! The staff is very helpful in making me feel at home and assisting me with any questions I may have. On top of all of that....the food is awesome !! It's like going to a 5 star restaurant and choosing between 4 or 5 options, all of which are delicious. Over time, I'm sure that I will make many friends to make my living experience that much better.
I can only speak for the assisted living section. While there are many lovely people who work at the Clarendale, there is a real disconnect between management and the workers. I did not find the upper management to be helpful at all. Follow through was very weak and there were two incidents that made me seriously consider reporting the Clarendale to the Department of Health and Senior Services. We had to hire a significant amount of private help to ensure that my mom was taken care of. The dining room was understaffed and the waiters were not well trained. The housekeeping was not impressive. The building is beautiful but I would not recommend the Clarendale if your loved one has any kind of memory issue.
I want to thank Mr. Mark Golliday, Executive Director, Mr. Muriz Smajic, Head of Maintenance, as well as the many Aides and Staff at Clarendale Clayton!! During the recent storm and subsequent power outage, ongoing communication and updates were provided by Muriz Smajic, as only limited electricity was available for a time through the generators. Landline phone contact was not operational. I commend Mark Golliday for his exceptional leadership in ensuring that all of the necessary preparations, procedures, safeguards and staff were in place to provide the appropriate and essential care for the vulnerable residents in assisted-living, and throughout the facility. I spoke with my 96-year-old aunt and 98-year-old mom this morning, and they were very happy with the way the aides and everyone responded. The ladies shared that everyone was “hands-on”, checked on them regularly, including during the night, and that an electrical cord was run down the hallway so that my aunt could sleep with her oxygen on. The ladies and I are very happy and grateful that everything worked out so well! Thank you Clarendale Clayton for being so diligent in taking care of the elderly! We also appreciate seeing and knowing that staff worked hard to effectively support and care for everyone in assisted-living that needed it! Thankfully my mom and aunt were well prepared with flashlights this time. They kept one on during the night in the bathroom so they could make their way there safely when needed. Mr. Golliday, I’m glad I had the pleasure of meeting you the last time I was in town! Please let the aides and staff know what an incredible job they did! I/We greatly appreciate you leading the way in making sure that vulnerable residents do not “suffer unnecessarily” during this type of situation. Mr. Smajic, you’re top-notch in my book brother! Thank you for always taking such great care of my mom and aunt, for being so kind and friendly, for communicating with me, and for responding so quickly whenever there is some kind of issue. With Sincere Gratitude, John
My review is missing from this platform for some reason. As a nurse and caregiver for my parents with Alzheimer’s disease, the care they received was extremely poor. The food was terrible. My parents voiced feeling scared and unsafe. We observed signs of neglect and moved them the very next week. We could not be happier with their new community. We even received a partial refund from the clarendale as our concerns were substantiated and validated by leadership. They FINALLY made a management change after we left, but I think it will take a long time to be a good place for a person with memory and thinking concerns.
