My Mom spent over a year at Chestnut Place, spending time on every floor. Eventually they made her move to the Memory Care Unit where she spent about 6 months. At first we were pretty happy with the care, food, and activities they provided. As time went on everything changed, food was awful, the care was not consistent, and the activities were not appropriate. The management had changed from the director to the head of nursing a few times-not to mention the 10% rate hikes in a little over a year. We never knew who was responsible for what, and when we asked for something everyone just passed the buck. In the Memory Care Unit, a simple request to make sure my Mom’s hearing aides were charged and in her ears each day just could never be accomplished. She had nurses that were very good, but there were a few that treated her badly. There was very little interaction or compassion from some of the caregivers. You could tell the staff was unhappy, and there was no consistent leadership. I would find another place to go-we’ve moved my Mom out and she’s doing so much better where she is now.

We moved my father to Chestnut Place in October of 2023. He currently resides in the Assisted Living area of the building. The nursing staff is wonderful, as are all the staff that we have encountered. Maintenance and Housekeeping do everything they can to keep the facilities clean and comfortable. I spend a lot of time there, and it really is very enjoyable.
When the time came to find a assisted living apartment for my Aunt, I am so grateful we found Chestnut Place in Berlin Vermont. It is a brand new facility located in a very accessible area close to the hospital. The staff including the reception, the kitchen chefs and staff, the administrators and most of all the nurses on the 2nd floor Assisted Living were so supportive, kind and attentive. Unfortunately my Aunt passed away before Christmas due to cancer. The support we received during her last weeks by the staff and nurses at Chestnut Place I will never forget. 🙏🏼❤️
My two sisters live at Chestnut Place, one in Independent Living and the other in Memory Care. It's wonderful they are in the same facility to be able to see and help each other. We recently visited and were pleased with the staff for the quick response and thorough answers to our questions. I couldn't ask for more attention and the suggestions they gave us for what we could provide and add to our sisters' lives at Chestnut Place were invaluable.
I moved in to Chestnut Place in July 2022 it is a brand new construction. As I entered the large bright lobby I knew I had found my new home. With any new building wrinkles have to be smooth out maintenance employees work tirelessly to keep things prepared for staff and residents the building has many windows letting in light, hallways are clean and wide. To me there is a sense of dignity to the building. Activities, both traditional and new provide time for residents to meet and form new friendships. The staff is excellent and always willing to help they are generous with their time, energy and thoughtfulness there appears to be a mutual respect between staff and residence they communicate well together. Residents are considerate of each other the people they meet become friends quickly. Chestnut Place creates a safe and welcoming community.
