My loved one is enjoying a three week respite care stay that is transitioning into his permanent home. Although a huge decision, we both have decided that this is a good move for him. Now, we can focus on each other while a caring staff takes care of him and his daily needs. Chesapeake Place is a sunny, happy, active senior home. Every time I visit, I see pleasant and engaged residents who interact with each other. Meals are a highlight and are good. Also significant, there is an hard working activity director who is always giving the residents a constant variety of things to do. They also have on site PT facility that is important to my loved one. Carolyn and Stacie have helped us with our planning and decision making every step of the way from our first encounter, the First Annual Seafood Boil, a great social event enjoyed by all, to our comfortable decision to make this my loved one's new home. Thank you Carolyn and Stacie and thank you Chesapeake Place staff for all of your dedication and hard work!

I am changing my review from the one I wrote before as Carolyn is no longer there. See my previous review below for why this is significant. Carolyn Hewitt is the main reason Chesapeake Place is receiving 4 stars . We were not aware of all the " change of management" and issues when we placed my mom in CP. Since she has become the Executive Director, we have seen so many positive changes and we have NO doubt that CP is on its way to five stars. The Activities director Lovely should also be included in the very positive things we see there. We are disappointed that the replacement of my mom's door is sub-par and in constant need of being " fixed". We look forward to better communication/ work duties among the staff when the Nurse situation is stable. Our heartfelt thanks to Carolyn and Lovely for their commitment to making my mom feel at home. They are awesome!
This facility stinks! I suggest that they thoroughly clean the bathrooms. I have no family staying there, was just invited to visit, been there 2x already. I feel sorry for the residents smelling the stench 24 hours a day. The minute I got in, it stinks. When you go to the residents' rooms, the more they stink! The bathroom stinks! I had to wear a mask, but the stench crept inside my mask. It was nauseating. I wouldn't advise anyone to entrust their love ones at this facility until they thoroughly leave no stone unturned in cleaning and sanitizing this facility. it stinks of feces to high heavens! .
If you're looking for a place that neglects their medical needs, you're going to absolutely love this place! Lazy, incompetent, rude, unfriendly employees. They "forgot" to make a doctor's appointment for 4 months. Another Time was told if we didn't want to wait til Tuesday for a urine test, we could take her to urgent care ourselves! 2 employees fired for negligence! Repeatedly raising costs. Complete lack of communication, no organization. HORRENDOUS MEMORY CARE!!!!!!! STAY AWAY. The owners of this dump will respond to this review asking it to be removed.....won't erase negligence, or fired employees, or multiple memory care residents moving to better facilities! These residents are just money for you, you ought to be ashamed. Typical corporate greed
While my mom has only been at Chesapeake Place a week, I cannot speak highly enough of the kind and accommodating welcome we've received. The entire staff is friendly, professional and patient with their senior residents. I've been the sole caregiver for mom for the past 6 years which has taken a toll on me. From the moment we stepped on site the staff took full control of mom's care. It's taken me a moment to adjust, but now it is so comforting to know she in a very nice, safe place getting the care she needs. I would highly recommend Chesapeake Place to anyone with a family member with similar needs as mom.
