A Place with Serious Leadership Concerns Cheney Care Center initially seems like a wonderful place for residents and staff alike. The residents themselves are lovely and deserve the best care possible. However, my experience with the leadership at this facility has left me deeply concerned about the organization’s integrity and stability. There seems to be a lack of consistency and trust in how management operates. Decisions appear to be made abruptly and without regard for the impact on staff or the quality of care for the residents. This creates an unstable environment that affects everyone involved. It’s heartbreaking to see an organization with so much potential fail to support those who dedicate themselves to its mission. Additionally, the overall atmosphere feels tense, as if everyone is on edge, unsure of what might happen next. For families seeking a reliable, nurturing home for their loved ones or individuals hoping to find stability in their work, this may not be the right place. The residents here deserve better, and so do the people who work hard to care for them. Until there are clear changes in leadership and operations, I cannot, in good conscience, recommend Cheney Care Center. There are other facilities in the area that may provide the consistency and care you or your loved ones deserve.

My mom was there for a couple years. She had previously been in another facility that was top notch. During COVID she had to go here for PT. Which they never did. They left her in filthy incontinence underwear all the time, leading to a ridiculous amount of UTI's. They mismanaged her health care to a criminal degree. She had kidney stones and had a stent put in that they FORGOT about for months until the ombudsman found it in her chart. Then, while blaming everyone else, finally hustled and got it removed. I finally found another placement for her but she was sick again. So she needed urine cultures done to make sure the infection was being addressed correctly. They weren't supposed to move her till she got the all clear. I just got a surprise phone call a couple days ago saying that she was moved THAT morning to the new facility! My sister and I wanted to be with her during the move so it was less traumatic. They again blamed someone else. She has been in her new place for 3 days when I get a call and I can hear my mother in the background screaming. The caregiver said she was acting crazy (she was) and that they thought she might still be sick. Since I didn't trust that CCC had actually cleared up her infection I told the caregiver to call an ambulance. My mother is right now heading into surgery for a giant kidney stone that's STUCK. That CCC said she DIDN'T have. My Mom has a raging infection and urine in her blood. They also found she has PNEUMONIA. So CCC basically dumped my dying mother onto another facility because apparently they didn't want her dying in their facility. There is SO much more that's happened. There's just not enough room to tell it all. Please, if you have someone you care about ESPECIALLY if they have dementia and can't communicate to YOU what they might be going through, please don't ever send them to this place. Hopefully my Mom will pull through. If she does, it will be NO thanks to CCC. Response: she'll settle in just fine if she survives. Her new place is outstanding and highly recommended.
Sadie and her team are always so great to work with! They are a strength in the Cheney and the greater Spokane communities!
My uncle was here for about 25 days and I visited him 24 of those days and everyone I met was great. The nurses and aids all were very courteous and professional with good attitudes. I asked him about the food and he said it was good. The meals I saw did look appetizing.
Where do I start? If I could give this facility 100 stars I would. My mom is a resident there. Between the Administration and the Staff they have gone above and beyond for her and my family. They have made this time in our lives easier. Caring is an understatement when it comes to this facility. I will forever be grateful for CCC and their compassion they have shown.
