My Dad was a trifecta resident at Cerenity White Bear....meaning he was a patient in the TCU, a resident of assisted living and finished his life in the long term unit. Our family experienced all 3 in just 6 short months. We started our Cerenity journey due to a a broken spine that landed him in the TCU, Cerenity was the first facility to accept him with Aetna insurance. He was so happy there that we got him an assisted living apartment. Assisted living is nice here. The rooms are recently renovated and are very large compared to other new/flashy buildings. He had a full kitchen, living room, huge bedroom and handicap accessible bathroom. Laundry and housekeeping are included along with 3 meals and snacks daily. The food is great (eventhough my dad complained nonstop because thats what he does). There were activities and field trips and bus rides to shopping centers. When Dads health became terminal, he moved over to long term care. They were gracious and prorated his bill for assisted living and waived the large deposit for long term since we were existing customers. I was very very impressed with long term care. They have a great routine and seem to be very organized. The long term residents are dressed and out of their rooms early for breakfast and then have many activities that take them through lunch. Again, the food was great! Cathy, a 25 yr nurse employee was OUTSTANDING in every aspect of care. Cerenity is deeply rooted in the community of White Bear Lake. You will definately find newer, nicer looking facilities in the area but none that will care as deeply for your loved one as Cerenity. Thank you to all of the staff and residents who made his final days on earth as happy as could be!!!!

It was horrible, the worst experience of my and my mother’s life. Really disgusting. My mother was treated so badly there it broke my heart. I thankfully was able to move her to a different facility, but it was a terrible experience. One day they wheeled her into the dining room for breakfast and left her sitting there all day until I came to visit and found her. Her room always averaged about 90 degrees. Most days they never even got her out of bed or dressed. They ignored her doctor’s written orders for PT. I don’t even know if that is legal. Most all their staff is agency. It’s different people working there everyday and no one knows what is going on. When I went to take her out of there she didn’t even have her boot on her broken ankle. I never saw a nurse, or a social worker, I didn’t sign any discharge papers, I just took her and left. I can’t believe they can stay open operating like that. Once the staff knew I was moving her to a different facility they stopped getting her out of bed, they never got her dressed, never put her in the wheelchair and wouldn’t provide her any therapy. A really vindictive staff that offered me no help at all when I expressed my concerns. The nurse manager told me her hands are tied because their director won’t give them any help and she can only hire agency staff and there was nothing she could do about the lack of and extremely low quality of care. Please, please don’t put anyone you love here - it’s so bad. Check into Good Samaritan or Ebenezer facilities. Cerenity really set my mom back in her recovery by not giving her therapy. I have filed a complaint against them with the State of MN. I hope it will go somewhere.
She is Lutheran and moat of everything was catholic. On weekends, the facility needs more experienced nursing assistants. She likes to watch nighttime news, but nursing assistant told her she is going to bed at 8:30 (even though she asked to stay up till 10). This happened 3 times. Doctor is difficult to understand, as she has an accent. My mom didn't complain about it, of course, since the doc didn't show up much. This is my complaint. Food was great!!! My mom loved it!!! She always asked to eat in the dining room, but they only took her there half the time. I needed to show up to take her there the other half of the time, otherwise she would continue to sit in her room, just like the rest of the day. Nurses were absolutely wonderful. They were concerned with her getting better with beds and other care. PT and OT were absolutely wonderful too. Overall, the placee is the best place I think she could have ever gone to for care. Thank you!!!
I am so proud to say our friends and family that have been in the TCU recently have been pleased with their care and accommodations. The pool therapy is amazing, especially for the Assisted Living Residents that don't have to leave the community to go to their therapy appointments.
Go anywhere else! Within 24 hours, they missed my mother in law's meds TWICE, didn't give her breakfast and didn't answer the nurse call button. Dragged their feet in communicating for a transfer to another facility. Denied P/T and O/T because of the transfer. The admin. stated the transfer was in the hands of the new facility, but the new facility stated they were still waiting to hear from Cerenity. They are anything but serene. Admin/director was condescending and rude. Awful, awful place.
