I give Castlewood 5 stars. My grandmother made the transition to Castlewood from her own apartment. I was very concerned as transitions get harder as we age. Patricia, the owner, as well as the staff have been a *class act* throughout the entire process. There are always fresh snacks out and available for the residents. Each room is beautifully decorated. There is an outdoor living space with lots of greenery and shade. There are gorgeous paintings along the walls. The ambience is warm, yet tidy and clean. The chef creates the most beautiful meals for the residents that smell delicious throughout the home at meal times. He has catered to my grandmothers, personal dietary preferences and needs. Patricia has been in constant communication with me. Every request has been met with readiness and grace. The staff are polite and educated. Miss Viola, for example, has been nursing for 49 years! I’ve gotten to know the staff by name. Every time I arrive, I see different ways that the caregivers go above and beyond to make this assisted living facility everything but a facility. It is home. They give their residents a home to transition into. With 24 hour care, my grandma has been able to take her meds the way she wants and needs to (per doctor’s scripts). You’ll miss out if you don’t stop in for a tour. They only have about 12 rooms. (another perk) Thank you Castlewood for all you do. I’m happy to be a reference. I can’t wait to see how this home grows with more joy and comfort.
Castlewood Assisted Living Residence is cozy and charming with very personal attention. It was recently renovated and is very clean and fresh. Patricia and all her staff are warm, concerned and extremely helpful. Our sister made an intimidating move to Castlewood from out of state. The intimate size and skilled staff smoothed this difficult transition for her. They are very understanding and continue to provide her with patient and compassionate attention. They went all-out to host a festive celebration for her birthday, where everyone participated. They've hosted holiday BBQ's and other fun events for the residents and family visitors. The rooms are warm and nicely decorated. Each room is a bit different. There is not a 'instututional' feeling from the building or the staff. It is also very well located. Within a few blocks there are several large churches, the library, and main street shops and restaurants. For out of town visitors, it is a short drive straight east of the expressway exit on Route 60, and just a few blocks west if traveling on US 1. Pursuing state Medicaid assistance has been very complicated. Patricia is very knowledgeable about all aspects of Medicaid and has been invaluable in helping us thru the process. We literally would be lost without her expertise. Castlewood is a wonderful alternative to the large, impersonal style of institution, which is so common. I highly recommend it to you!
