Before going to Casa Real, I telephoned to ask about visiting times. The gentleman that answered was kind & professional. Upon entering I informed him I was the person who had called regarding visitation. He directed me to complete the Covid screening, gave me my ID tag. I then walked to the nurses station and was approached by a nurse that offered assistance. She directed me to the room where my cousin was. I was pleased to see nursing staff doing various duties. The facility appeared clean and orderly. I hope any staff shortages are resolved. From what I observed, the staff in general were approachable and busy. Most people do not want to work in nursing facilities. However, the staff on duty when I was there seemed engaged and hopefully doing the best they can. Every patient deserves to be safe and well treated.

I have a family member there that I regularly visit, and I must say I feel so much better when it’s the weekend as the nurse and her staff on the southside unit go above and beyond to my make my family member feel safe and cared for. As I mentioned that I am regularly there I get the bonus of observing the facility and the staff. In my opinion this new management has definitely changed the morale of their staff. I never see management unless they have to reprimand their team. The nurses are drowning with work and management are never are around, to help. Their management seems to ensure their staff is following their rules when it comes to “dress code” and I feel like their management fails to lead by example as most of their management seems to wear the same clothing every day and tend to look very sloppy. They need to lead by example. As I bring they clothing up I just want to clarify why because it’s something so minimal as the management complaining about their nursing staff’s clothing to all the way as to why they nursing staff didn’t or do something with the 35+ residents they have to care for daily. Management needs to become less of a dictatorship and realize their staff is trying their best and working their butts off. Management needs to change or be changed because they are gonna lose their original staff, and their original staff is the reason I can sleep at night, feel welcomed, and ensure my family member will be cared for. Thank you to Julian and Nurse Catie for always working hard and making my family member happy.
To Whom It May Concern, am writing to formally express my concerns regarding the working conditions and treatment of residents at the facility. During my time here, I have observed several issues that I feel must be addressed for the well-being of both staff and residents Firstly, there is a significant shortage of staff, which results in an overwhelming workload for those of us who are present. This situation has created an environment where staff members often lack enthusiasm and struggle to effectively resolve conflicts. I have witnessed instances of staff berating residents, particularly those who are vulnerable due to trauma or Alzheimer's disease. Additionally, I have observed staff concealing food from residents who may be agitated or angry, and in some cases outright denying them access to food. I feel compelled to speak up about a specific incident where a resident confided in me about being mistreated and having personal items go missing. When I reported this to management, I received a written and verbal reprimand. I overheard the management dismissing the resident's concerns as unprofessional, which I believe undermines the trust and safety that our residents should feel in our care. Furthermore, I recently experienced a personal incident where my wallet was either lost or stolen within the facility. I was given a mere ten minutes to search for it. Upon asking for permission to look again the following day, I was escorted out of the building for expressing my frustration in a moment of stress. I am at a loss regarding these matters and feel compelled to bring them to your attention. It is my hope that by addressing these issues, we can foster a safer and more respectful environment for both residents and staff. Thank you for your attention to these serious concerns. 2790
If I could give this place a minus I would. They are understaffed and they run with bare minimum of staff on purpose. The office nurses bark orders while you are passing meds and tending to the needs of the patients. The office nurses bark threaten staff and as a nurse your drowning. The smells are pervasive and the housekeeping is non existent. Medications are missing and no help from upper management as you drown and patients have substandard care due to purposeful bare minimum staff. How can your administration not SMELL the horrible smells in their own nursing home. If you close your door you won’t smell the smell, if you hide in your office you won’t see the tears and staffing problem. Shame on this place
Everything was great. There was a super nice elderly lady that offered us coffee. Thank you to her beautiful persona! We enjoyed visiting with our aunt. Thank you
