What an amazing community for our Mt Juliet seniors. Compassionate care and support for seniors at any age. Lots of activities, beautiful apartments and a trained and dedicated team.
If you’re considering a place to live for a loved one or a place of employment I would highly recommend Carrick Glen Senior Living! We have exceptional CNA’S and RA’S (techs) and a phenomenal management team. At Carrick Glen we prioritize the physical equality of our residents, as well as the emotional, and social needs for our residents. We love to keep a smile on our residents face while also providing supportive needs of daily living.
From the first contact, working with Carrick Glen has been a very personal and professional experience. Jill Waggoner made herself available to me during a very stressful time in my husband's health journey as we began to make arrangements for his uncertain future. We have resided here in a comfortable suite for two months where he is receiving onsite therapy for three hours a day. I have come to realize the benefits of being in a stable environment for optimal recovery. Thank you to the entire staff for the warm and ongoing relationship.
If I could give 0 stars I would. My aunt who has dementia, kidney disease, and heart failure was there for about 36 hours when she fell under the care of Carrick Glen. She went to the hospital and has declined further from her conditions. When the hospital wanted to discharge her, Carrick Glen refused to let her come back to the facility even though we were going to hire 24/7 hour care plus hospice would be involved due to her decline and at this point she will be bed bound. They stated they were not staffed adequately to handle her, which is strange since they have patients there who are bed bound and of course have dementia which makes sense being it's a MEMORY CARE FACILITY. When we looked for a facility I was very upfront with her health issues and said over and over please do not accept her if you can't handle her because she has been in the hospital and then to a skilled nursing facility and we wanted the next move to be the last because it is too hard on my aunt physically and mentally. I was assured that they would not take her if they felt they couldn't provide the care she needed and that they would keep her until end of life because of her health issues. I was told they have had and have other patients similar to her. When they accessed her they called and said "oh most certainly we can hendle her and would love to care for her". I was even told to be prepared that she would probably be difficult at first because of her dementia and that it would take a couple of weeks for her to get used to her new "home". She had a horrible first 2 nights and apparently was screaming because she was confused and had an accident in the bathroom floor which ticked off the nurse and staff that night because they had to deal with it and her behavior (which again when you have dementia you can be out of sorts at times). You would think they would know how dementia can effect a person. It is a horrible and scary disease. They called my sister at 4:00am just to complain about what she did. That could have waited until morning. We were making arrangements to have someone there at night to sit with her to help the facility's staff plus spoke to the NP to adjust meds for aggitation and anxiety. Before this was finalized she fell and was transported to the hospital. They knew they were not going to take her back but instead of telling us they waited almost 2 weeks before letting us no she isn't welcome back. They sure charged her though for the time she wasn't there because her belongings were in the room. If they would have told us immediatley that they had no intention on taking her back we would have moved her things out sooner to try and save my aunt the money that was paid for care she didn't even receive. I honestly cannot beleive they wouldn't refund everything back to her since they did what they did. If you tour just know you will think you found the answer to your loved one's health/mental problems but you will be wrong. Jill will tell you how they are in this business to love the elderly and that they will care for them and do whatever they need to do to make the rest of their lives comfortable and good. She is a salesman and she just wants the sale. The nurse Heather who is over the Memory Care unit is another one who made empty promises. Colleen who is over the facility should feel ashamed of herself as well. She knew the situation when I first toured the facility and knew we didn't want to set my aunt up for failure and have to move her again. She was aware that Jill and Heather accessed her and said that she was a candidate to be a resident. They could care less about my aunt. If they had any feelings they would at least refund everything that was paid considering she was there for only 2 nights and sustained and injury under their care. Unless your loved one can take care of themselves and can live in the assisted living side I would NEVER recommend Carrick Glen's Memory Care. It is like a nursing home with better scenery but very little care or compassion.
