From the moment I came for a tour and long before I ever had to bring my mother I fell in love with Carriage Hill Bethesda. The beauty of the place, the warm atmosphere, and the kindness of the people instantly stood out to me. I just knew it would be the kind of place my mother would feel comfortable and cared for. When the time came and I brought her there, she fell in love with it too. The staff have been absolutely wonderful to her. They’ve provided excellent care, and anytime we’ve had a concern or issue, they addressed it quickly and with compassion, always making sure she felt at home. Even when I visit, they never hesitate to answer my questions or ease any concerns I have. I’m incredibly thankful to Carriage Hill Bethesda for giving me peace of mind and for treating my mother with the love and respect she deserves.

Carriage Hill Bethesda stands out for its warm and welcoming atmosphere. The environment feels more like a community than a facility, with residents actively engaged in daily activities that promote both social interaction and mental stimulation. Leadership is visible, approachable, and clearly invested in both the well-being of the residents and the satisfaction of the staff. You can feel the positive energy throughout the building, from the friendly greetings at the front desk to the thoughtful interactions between staff and residents. It’s clear that Carriage Hill is committed to creating a vibrant, person-centered experience. We are excited to have open doors to come and join us!
I had my 93-year-old grandfather at Carriage Hill for over a week and was incredibly disappointed with the level of care and communication. From day one, I never heard from his assigned social worker, Diana. I had to initiate contact myself and only learned who she was through the front desk. When I finally reached her around 9:30 AM, she told me she had just walked in and would call me back, this being our first ever conversation after my grandfather had already been in the facility for a week. Hours passed, and I had to call her again and leave a voicemail. When she finally called back, she asked, “What do you want to know?”, a shocking response considering I had received zero updates and no care plan meeting had been scheduled. The next day, she unexpectedly called from my grandfather’s cellphone while in his room and said we’d be having the care plan meeting right then. Thankfully I was available, but the disorganization and lack of professionalism was disturbing. Weeks later, I received a voicemail from Suburban Hospital early Saturday morning. It was my grandfather, saying he had been transported from the facility and was concerned his belongings were left behind unsecured. I was never contacted by the facility. I called to speak with a nurse and no one answered after over 15 minutes of ringing. I left a voicemail for Diana again and never received a return call. I had to contact the hospital myself for any medical information. Only a social worker from Kaiser followed up and apologized on their behalf. I attempted to raise my concerns with the facility’s leadership. Tara said she’d have Julius (the administrator) call me, he never did. My grandfather was ultimately discharged without any communication or discharge paperwork provided to me. This facility operates like a prison. The lack of transparency, professionalism, and basic communication is unacceptable. If you want your elderly loved one to be treated with dignity and kept informed, I would strongly advise you to look elsewhere.
The staff at Carriage Hill Bethesda has been wonderful and influential in getting my grandma in a better place than she came in. Therapy has been phenomenal and her needs have been met to the fullest and we feel safe enough for her to go home in her own. I want to say thank you to everyone and I appreciate all you do for those in need.
