Transferred from hospital to facility for rehabilitation due to fractured pelvis Admissions team was responsive and helpful. Daily care was dependent on who was on staff. Some nurses were excellent others provided inadequate care. Mom was not given meds on time and one time not at all. She developed difficulty breathing and it took 3 nurses and 4 days before the issue was investigated. Upon testing and X-rays she had Influenza A and was put in isolation. Food was inedible and always cold. PT and OT were very good Assistance with personal hygiene was unacceptable. Didn’t even offer help with teeth brushing and sponge bath She developed a rash from not changing the diaper often enough a Communication was very poor with both the patient and family. Suggestions were made to place Mom in assisted living without any discussion with Mom or any criteria set as to what was expected in order to return safely home. The comment was that people her age go to assisted living. It was determined that Mom was able to return home. The release date was set for 4 days later. Nursing gave us excellent information upon release about continuing care. However information for home care was not given. Family had to call to see what arrangements had been made. Very difficult to get the information. Finally had to go to the facility to get answers as there was no phone response. It did get resolved as I was given the phone number of the home care. Upon calling them it arranged very quickly Overall this is not somewhere I would ever send family or friends

I moved my mother to Carmel Health & Living in May 2024 - to their Long Term Care unit. I toured numerous facilities in Fishers and Carmel prior to making the decision - but ultimately felt the staffing ratio, the size, and the skill level was the best fit. I also found the staff to be very engaged, motivated and proud of the work they did. Immediately I saw an attention to detail I had not seen at previous facilities - my mother was always cleaned up, in clean, matching clothes, her bed was made, even her calendar was up to date. Further, I noticed that her aide was matching her outfits from head to toe - something that my stylish mother would oh so appreciate! If I needed something, I never had to search for staff. Requests were responded to immediately. Staff stopped by to say hi and check on my mother thru out the day. At mealtime, her aide would sit next to her and feed her and encourage her to eat. I truly felt like I had extended family members taking care of my mother. I am forever grateful for the care that my mother received in her final months at Carmel Health & Living. Alzheimer's is a cruel, long, hard journey - but we found many blessings along the way - I consider the staff at Carmel Health & Living to be many of those blessings. If you are needing care for a loved one - you will find peace of mind with the staff and their care at Carmel Health & Living.
I would leave no stars if I could! Do Not take your family members here if you love them! My mother did Not receive quality care. She was served something everyday that she is allergic to even with her allergies noted! She was continually served regular milk and she’s lactose intolerant. She was served fish on more than one occasion after I told staff she’s allergic! She was served tomatoes, tomatoe soup, and even cooked tomatoes and it was noted on each ticket that she is allergic to tomatoes! Her bathroom was not cleaned! Poop was everywhere! Sheets, clothing, and soiled depends stayed in her trash can! When bought home she was brought in with pajamas and no underpants! She had clean clothes, underwear, and depends there! She could have at least been dressed! Thanks for no care!!! I hope you start treating your patients as if they are your own!
On behalf of my brother, sister and myself. We would like to extend a special thank you to everyone in the 700 hallway. Our Dad passed away today after spending six months at Carmel Health and Living. The folks there have become very near and dear to us as they have cared for our Father as if he were their own parent. Our experience there was excellent and we are truly grateful that our dads final months were spent with some amazing, caring and kind hearted people. You all know who you are. We certainly recommend CH&L to anyone seeking care for your loved one.
I was very disappointed with this place. Food was nasty cold when it’s suppose to be hot. Looked horrible. The nurses or aides had no empathy. There were 1 nurses and 2 therapists who were fantastic. My sisters room was hardly cleaned. They I believe only bathed her 2x. Would not refer anyone to this place. I don’t think nurses or staff would refer their family members. Please think twice. I would hope the staff would improve.
