My mom is 82 years old and is in the Western Shores Rehab Center. When my mom arrived she had been in bed in ICU for several weeks and lost all ability to even scoot around. I have to say these PT workers are fabulous!!!! They have ALOT of patience and dedication to their work! Within 5 weeks they have mom ready to go home!!! The Director of the entire Center “Robin” is wonderful, she is so talented in all aspects of her work! The entire staff from doctors, nurses etc…. Have been a true blessing to taking care of my mom. The cafeteria staff is amazing. My mom didn’t want to eat when she first arrived, they have worked on alternative meals for her to the point where she has actually eaten and gained weight back that she had lost from ICU etc… the unit has always been clean every single day I go there. Bottom line I would love to see this Center to be a 5 star rating! If anyone has any questions please feel free to ask me!!

I've always had a great time, however there have been some Sundays particularly today when I visit the residence to provide Church Services from Covenant Ministries, some residence tell me no one came to get them ready to take them to service. I guess due to a shortage of staff. The facility for the most part stays and smell clean, but there have been times, where it seem to have been neglected, very few times since I've been coming there, and have improved tremendously. However, everyone I've encounter, staff and residence alike tend to be very polite, Ms Darlene in particular and all the ladies who manage the front desk. God bless you all.
My mom was there recovering after her fall and received great care. The building is a little run down but the PT staff made up for it with their kindness and skill.
I spent 16 months in the facility the nurses were good in some cases and others had no idea reading instructions from my doctor to change a dressing. While being there I had infections two times and hospitalized for 6 days, and another time for 11 days. While doing physical therapy I had 2 wounds on my foot that opened and made a complaint with the state and was not satisfied with the results. They have a good activities dept lots of activities to do, the food was fair if I had to go back probably would go to another facility. Tried to contact my state senator and had no response regarding the complaint with the state.
My list is what is wrong with Calvert County Nursing Center The place has the creeping mold it's dirty, and it smells. They vaccinate people without permission from the person who is responsible for the patient. They do not ask permission about adding medication to the person's regiment. The food is substandard. You would not feed it to an animal. I got my mother out of this place she was dehydrated and bruised she had handprints bruises on her arms. My mother had defecated in her pants and I told the nurse that she needed to be changed the nurses response to me was her Aid just went on her lunch break and she would get to her when she got back from her break. In my opinion the care that they give to people with dementia is substandard. The food is absolutely disgusting. This facility is like living in the slums they are slum lords. This place should be shut down and the building should be condemned. I would not recommend Calvert Nursing Facility to anyone. They told me everybody is treated equally when my mother went into this facility, my mother was Private pay they charge for private pay people $435 a day my mother could have been in a five-star hotel for those prices it is not worth the money that you spend there the care is substandard. It seems to me that the nurses are just there to collect a paycheck they really don't care about people.
