My brother wrote this review of Calvary Homes and wanted me to add it as a Google Maps review. I completely agree with his assessment: Words cannot fully convey the depth of gratitude, appreciation, and admiration we have for you, Dale Weaver, and everyone at Calvary for the quality of care you provided our mother for the over 22 years she lived with you at 502 Elizabeth Street. And we would especially like to acknowledge the superlatively good work of the head of nursing, the visiting doctor, and especially that of the nursing staff on the lower level who cared for Mom on a 24 hour basis every day of the week. The whole team at Calvary worked together as one, so there are others deserving commendation whose names are too many to list here. We wish to say that we consider the quality of care provided at Calvary to be in a class by itself far above any other elderly care facility in the country. We have been in many such homes, and no other facility comes anywhere close. We know you are constantly seeking ways to improve. But we cannot think of any way you could do better. The health service, food service, linen service, personal hygiene service, life enrichment service, and attention to the religious life of residents are all truly amazing. To the extent Calvary is the only elderly care facility we know that does not smell institutional. It literally smells like home and not like a nursing home. And that is no small feat. But what touches members of our family most, and what has been remarked on most frequently over the years, is how truly personal, thoughtful, and caring the staff has been toward our mother and visiting members of our family over the years. Every single one is a consummate professional, but never merely professional. Professionalism can be impersonal and mechanical, but your staff never is. Whether late at night, early in the morning, or during a busy day, each expresses a loving spirit that goes beyond just doing the job. Each truly cares, not because he or she must, but because he or she wants to. Each sees beyond the degenerating outward appearance of residents and expresses genuine respect and true interest in the unique personhood of those being cared for. Such quality does not come from training but is inspired. It does not come from certifications but from hearts. And it does not reach the nursing level if not demonstrated at the top. The staff at Calvary has this quality, and we, the family of our mother, want you to know we not only recognize what you have done, but are very truly grateful and wish to praise you for all you have done. It is our opinion that the care provided could not have been better. It cannot be improved. And that is because it really is, and has been, the best we can possibly imagine.
My parents have been here for about 20yrs. They love the place. They're treated well and everything is close if not right on site. I have only had to meet with the staff a handful of times, but have always been treated sensibly and respectfully. Having everything from living independently in your own cottage to full service care in a room and everything in between, this looks like a great place to retire.
I've been here several times in the past 6 months, as my grandparents are looking to move here. The facility is clean, the staff is friendly, and all the residents I talked to seem to love it here. I'm especially grateful to the marketing staff, who patiently took us on multiple tours of several different housing options, walked us through all the steps we need to take before my grandparents move here (from finances all the way to choosing the color of the walls), and answered every single question we asked.
Notice all these reviews are from many years ago. The place has changed and is now "Med Tech Manor". They have no regard for LPN's anymore. Regardless of the fact that Med Techs have no formal training from either a Technical School or college like LPN's Med Tech's are often given higher credibility and promotions over a nurse. A Med Tech should never be the Supervisor of a nurse. That is disgraceful ! However, that's the Calvary way. I hear the new PCHA is even worse than the one they originally had. What a shame !
