I can’t say enough about Brookdale’s nursing staff, social worker , Jamie, director of nursing and dietary department in this skilled nursing facility. This facility provided more confidence and assurance to me and the patient I have been assisting since February 2025. There were NO major issues I had to deal with any type of dissatisfaction The communication and care was always available to get answers and support. My best wishes to all the staff and volunteer.. you are a superior model of what a skilled nursing should be about : comfort , professionalism and care That you deliver service for each patient and their caregivers , you are what every person need to look for in choosing such a place. i truly appreciated all of you. if i could give negative stars i would, this place is a circus, ran by people who are in it for the money, staff is constantly disrespected by human resources, residents are mistreated and neglected by staff, this place is ALWAYS understaffed as well, and they don’t keep staff for long periods of time either. There are certain requirements that have to be met in order to run a facility that Brookdale DOES NOT meet whatsoever. rules are broken daily, people don’t do their jobs, nurses and aides leave the kitchen staff to take care of the patients instead of them doing it their selves, i have heard numerous people complain about their family members being mis treated, even sometimes verbally abused, i have a friend who’s mom is in the facility, and she’s in skilled, she requires around-daily care, and they let her sit in her chair for hrs on end in dirty clothes when she had used the bathroom on herself and the staff didn’t even do anything about it. On top of this all Brookdale i can say is a VERY immature environment to work in as a whole, there is always constant drama between staff, arguing, etc. Not to mention the multiple times staff has been reported by families and residents and human resources refuses to take responsibility and action to address the situation. The carelessness in this place is what gives me the most, these people wouldn’t be here if they didn’t need to be, these people rely on people to take care of them, if they could do it themselves they would, so please, DO BETTER!!!
Very High recommendations for the rehabilitation center. Everyone is so professional and helpful. My 98 Year old Mother was admitted. They all were so nice to her and were able to complete her therapy and rehab. The staff in the rehabilitation center were very thorough, friendly and knowledgeable. Highly recommended. Nurses and Aides were fantastic also. Our Family and friends that visited her all expressed how special this place is.
I just wanted to express my appreciation for the excellent care I’ve had at Brookdale Skills Services. It’s been wonderful and it’s been a big factor in my speedy recovery from knee replacement surgery I had nine days ago. The people have been terrific and I want to especially extend my thanks to Yvonne Vincent, the social worker has expedited my stay here. In addition, I’ve also enjoyed meeting all the patients, learned a lot from them and I’d be remiss if I didn’t give a shout-out to the outstanding meals and attentive care. Thanks so much, Dave Montgomery.
After 7 months of residency, our family concluded that Brookdale at Westlake Village Assisted Living could not adequately and safely provide care for our loved one. Care aide assistance and services were often unsatisfactory and very unreliable. IF (emphasis added) Brookdale care aides responded to calls for assistance, it could take up to 90 minutes. Care aides would refuse to provide assistance in general and for toileting. Our loved one was told by care aides that he would not receive care by Brookdale care aides when he expressed dissatisfaction with care aide response times or the care provided. Our loved one was told to not use his pendant call button and the call button was often removed by care aides and placed out of his reach. Our loved one was left unattended for lengthy periods of time in high risk locations, including on the toilet, in the shower, and at tables without fall prevention safety. We were often told that care aides did not respond because they were on break or someone else was supposed to respond. When resorting to walking around the facility to find help, it was common to find several care aides socializing outside the nurses’ station rather than responding to calls for assistance. Urgent calls to the nurses’ station and switchboards would go unanswered, even during business hours, and often with a recording that the voicemail box was full. Medications were lost. Several times pills were found in our loved ones bed or on the floor in his room because medications were not properly supervised and administered. Laundry facilities were often out of order or did not adequately clean clothing because the washers and dryers were contaminated by soiled clothing. Soiled gloves, bed pads, and linens were often left on the floor and not properly placed in the garbage or sealed bags. The bathroom area and ADL toileting and showering equipment was often left soiled and uncleaned after use. Our loved one never had bedsores prior to residency at Brookdale at Westlake Village. Recurring incidents of bedsores became so bad that our loved one required medical attention and treatment had to be closely monitored by the family and private-paid care aides to ensure it occurred. Our family was at the facility often and at varying times. We regularly encountered residents calling out for help for extended periods of time without care aide response, residents wandering outside the premises and unable to figure out how to get back into the building, or disoriented residents placed in hallways, doorways, or on benches for extended periods of time, unsupervised, and crying out for help. Our family went above and beyond to facilitate and participate in a successful residency. Unending promises for residency and care improvement and/or correction were given by management and staff and consistently unfulfilled. If your loved one requires moderate to higher level assistance in Assisted Living, I assure you, they will encounter the same problems we did and I strongly encourage you to look elsewhere. If you choose to try Brookdale at Westlake Village Assisted Living residency for your loved one, it is absolutely necessary to visit often and at different times, listen to your loved one’s feedback and body language, observe other residents’ care, and place a surveillance camera in your loved one’s living quarters. I regret waiting to terminate residency at Brookdale at Westlake Village Assisted Living and relocate our loved one to a better managed and operated facility. If you encounter the same residency and care problems we did, I encourage you to relocate promptly. Management, do not post an empty, cookie cutter reply to this post that you are disappointed to learn of our experience and to contact your office to discuss our experience further. We did, ad nauseam, and more times than can be counted, including with upper management and the Executive Director. No satisfactory correction or resolution occurred and the safety of our loved one necessitated immediate relocation.
