Although placing our dad in Memory Care was so so tough, there is great comfort in knowing he is at Brookdale. They have made his stay there the best it could be. Our dad attempts to wander at night and would try to leave the facility, thus he needs to be in the Memory Care section, but during the day, his cognition is similar to many in the Assisted Living side of Brookdale. What has been remarkable is the Brookdale management and staff. They have personalized our dad's care so that although his room is in Memory Care, he is able to spend much of his day in Assisted Living. He has his meals with the residents in Assisted Living, which has allowed him to form friendships there. The activity director is awesome. She spends so much time actually engaging with the residents. Its clear she 'designs' her activities which will best meet where the residents are at. The administrator or Brookdale and the health director are very hands on. Their office doors are open, and I can see that they are keeping their eyes on what is happening each day. They don't just 'administer' but engage with the residents, sometimes even bringing a guitar out and playing some old time tunes. With all this being said, it is still tough to not have our dad at home, but since he cant be home, Brookdale gives us peace of mind.
Food is usually chicken with a sauce on it Most residents don't eat all of it. Laundry in is done but not put back on hangers in closet. For her to get. On shelf she can't reach.
My family’s experience with Brookdale has been great. We only hoped to manage the situation our family was in but have been pleasantly surprised to see my mother find belonging among the residents. I’ve seen joy that was missing during home care. I’m pleased to see her make new friends and we have been made to feel welcome when visiting. I believe Brookdale is a wise investment. The facility is safe, clean, and provides an uncommon opportunity to be outside “at will” due to the central courtyard within the footprint of the building. I’m comparison, many larger facilities lacked this green space. Thanks Brookdale.
Brookdale assisted living is one of the best choices I have ever made. My brother is very happy and content there. He's made friends, enjoys the games, movie night, cookout and celebrated holidays. Brookdale takes pride in their cleanliness, they are very organized and caring of each individual resident. It was one of the most difficult decisions to make and after researching and visiting several facilities Brookdale was top of my list. I wanted my brother to have the best care but most of all I wanted him to be happy. Yes he likes to go out but he often reminds me that bingo is at 3 and he doesn't want to miss it. The staff are amazing and talk, laugh, and care for each person as if they were their own family member. Thanks to Brookdale I can sleep at night knowing my brother is safe & well cared for because after all he's home at Brookdale.
