I highly recommend Brookdale in Virginia Beach, VA for any families with memory care needs. Brookdale is beautiful building with a great leadership staff. They are professional and caring. Each resident gets a lot of personal attention and care. They have a lot of different activities to keep our loved ones engaged and a very comfortable courtyard to spend time when it’s nice outside. The staff is very experienced and are prepared to cope with and issues that may arise. It’s conveniently located and the rooms are big. Brookdale reminds me of a home away from home. You can’t go wrong.

I have been working for brookdale for almost a year & i genuinely enjoy working with this company! the nursing staff always works together as a team so where ever there is a lack someone in other positions always step in and play the role with filling in where needed ! its a very family oriented , joyful place to work , my favorite thing about it is no one is down ur back micromanaging you instead we have daily meetings that keeps everyone on the same page , with any changes or policies… the cnas , pcas and medtechs are very compassionate and friendly and thats what makes working at a place like this the most fun !!
I am in awe of the cleanliness of all areas in this building. Their is no room that has been maintained within at least six months. certain rooms heavy urine, employee lounge area no sink to wash hands just the bathroom which is filthy, refrigerator, microwave filthy, dining area floor mustard and ketchup from last week still remains, common areas, handrails has dust and other unsanitary items placed inside baseboards accumulated drippings, supervisor Andrew misleading and defensive used profanity and was not professional. Dust is very heavy throughout . I was in orientation four days no housekeeping appeared until late afternoon. Laptop and headsets not wiped down after each use. Shortage on gloves. Administrative offices not cleaned, glass doors, not cleaned, Business office manager not professional or organized was discussing her hours about overtime. Mark is fair but some of his colleagues is complacent or taking him for granted. No structure at all in housekeeping. If their is a shortage the supervisor should be all hands on deck. Residents rooms are not up to par at all. Blinds, windowsills accumu, baking soda was found in a resident bathroom. Has been their for a while. Dangerous. Response I received maybe a relative put it their. I didn't ask who placed. I inquired that this shouldn't be there and it's in a room of priority.
I recently had the pleasure of touring Brookdale Virginia Beach. When you walk in they make you feel like you are home. Tessie gave me a wonderful tour of the building. The staff were very inviting and very sociable. The HWD answered all my questions that I had about memory care. I love the music playing in the background during the meals. It made the atmospheric feel like fine dining. Brookdale is definitely at the top of my list.
I don’t ever write bad reviews, however I have grown to love and care for the residents in Brookdale like family. We just moved our mother out of Brookdale. If you are considering moving your loved one into Brookdale, I would highly suggest looking elsewhere. The place we moved our mother into is like night and day. Unbelievable. I have watched Brookdale go downhill. So sad. Unfortunately they can’t maintain staff and have lost the ones that truly cared for these residents. It is sad to say, this place should be closed
