Brookdale is one of the best decisions our family has made. From the moment we toured the facility, we were impressed with the warm environment and friendly and caring team of professionals. My parents resisted the idea of moving into an assisted living community at first but once they toured Brookdale they felt right at home. The staff has taken the time to know my parents and meet their unique needs, and always with a smile. We are so glad we found this place and this wonderful team of people. Thank you! Tom Handfield

My younger sister is wheelchair bound now and searched for an assisted living facility that would be a good fit for her. Brookdale Vero Beach South is such a place. The care and compassion that I witnessed while I visited her for a week was awesome. The staff took extra special care of her and were so attentive to her needs. Even though at 60 years old and being the youngest resident, she is slowly becoming more accustomed to being there. The entire staff is wonderful. Especially Brendia, Kate "the great", Tiffany, Anita, Dèena, Terese, Beverly the kitchen staff and anyone else I missed!!😊 Obviously, I am very pleased with this facility. So if you are looking for a wonderful place for your loved one, choose Brookdale Vero Beach South!
If I could put zero stars I would. What is there to say about Brookdale? A lot. At first they will be sweet and attentive and polite but the MOMENT they realize your loved one is going to advocate for themselves they will immediately make everything seem like the worlds largest inconvenience. Granted they’re not paid well so why would you wanna help a 60 year old wheelchair bound woman? Oh wait it’s your job. Don’t take out the fact that you’re not paid well out on the people families are trusting you to take care of. You must be wondering if I have any examples. Well to name a few. They’ve forgotten to order her meds not once not twice not even three times but at least seven times SEVEN. They left her waiting for 45 minutes for assistance when she pressed her emergency button and they nickle and dime you every chance they get. Want food delivered to your room? 15 dollars a plate. You want them to take off the most expensive pain patch so you can just buy over the counter? They’re going to forget that too. It smells like urine everywhere you go. They’re understaffed so god forbid you visit your family member after 6 you’re going to wait 15-30 minutes to be let out. They don’t know how to knock on a door to save their life so forget privacy. They’re REALLY good at putting up appearances I’ll give them credit they had me fooled as a place that cares but they really just take advantage of the elderly and the family members who don’t know where else to go. They do have a lot of activities and I will credit them there. But the activity lady has an attitude that’s left to be desired. But again. If I was presented to be a manager but still having to work a second job I’d be a little upset too. They pay below minimum wage (like embarrassingly low. Like 13 dollars an hour low) The food is left to be desired. My mom had to beg for something different once. There are some staff members who my mom has nothing but positive things to say about but that list is a lot smaller since she’s been there. Save your money maybe consider a home health aid if that’s something in your budget. Your loved one will be kept alive but comfortable and happy isn’t something I’d call them. Stay away.
If you want a small homelike environment for your loved one that is safe, Brookdale is that type of facility. Great staff and personal attention. They know everyone by name. Highly recommended. My mom has been there going on two years and I’m gratfl for this care facility.
Relative was staying here and had to go to the hospital. The staff must have thought it was open season on her belongings while she was gone. Multiple items taken from her room while she was gone including cash from her purse, clothing from her closet and various other items.
