Lets start off with saying I'd give this place no stars if I could. The one star is for the positive experiences. I'd gladly start with the positive. I've been a CNA for 15 years and I am very passionate about caring for others and I love helping people. I LOVED all of my residents always tried to make them smile or laugh! My trainers which I will name bomb were excellent Lachelle, Bri and Louise!! Amazing aids still here Sarah, Whitney, Lisa, Sam (CMA), and there's more I just forgot their names. These ladies and gentlemen need a raise, and the level of commitment and care they provide for the residents is exceptional. Beth and Sonia are the best nurses easy to communicate with and willing to jump in and assist if you need help with anything!! They need raises hands down!!!! My supervisor Ashlee good at communicating and taking care of business needs until the very end. Now to the negative SUPPLIESSSSSSSSSSSSSSS! No resident should go without adequate supplies for any staff member to do their job. WIPES AND BRIEFS should never run out it is unethical in this line of work!!! Someone needs to FOCUS on having supplies for ALL residents!!!!! Workload your CNA'S, CMA'S, AND PROBABLY NURSES need help!!!! I have heard numerous times that the number of lights and needs do not add up to 2 CNA'S during the day on Assisted Living. Updated assignment sheets!!! If you get a new resident they should be added to your assignment sheets WITH how to care for that resident and if they are ambulatory likes and dislikes!!! I have come to work with numerous times with no information about a new resident or even better the wrong information. Communication is a huge con working here it's terrible. Laundry if you work here you know every shift plays a part in getting the laundry done. Putting away, washing, folding, and actually pulling the laundry out of the residents' room. However, if the laundry does not get done it falls on "oh the overnight shift didn't do laundry." No prior shifts did not pull or put it away or or even better placed dirty laundry over the clean laundry. HOLD ALL SHIFTS AND STAFF ACCOUNTABLE FOR NOT DOING THEIR PART. How is it fair that an overnight shift spends all night doing 10 to 20 loads of laundry because it wasn't pulled or put away? BRIEF TO BRIEF CHECKS SHOULD BE MANDATORY AT THIS FACILITY NO IFS, ANDS, OR BUTS ABOUT IT!!! Residents left soiled, not properly cleaned or wiped!!!!! Training is highly needed for some of your seasoned AIDES and NURSES!!!!! You have aides still employed there saying to only change them once during the night shift. UMMM hello skin breakdown which can lead to a wound?????? You have a nurse Carol who doesn't know how to talk to people but orders everyone and everything around. But still doesn't do her job correctly according to 99.9% of the nurses that work there. She told a patient to stop calling her every 5 minutes, a resident fell and she screamed how we could of prevented before assessing the patient or helping me get off the floor. Carpet cleaning should be weekly on memory care if you work there for about a month you will find out why!!! HOUSEKEEPING needs to go in a couple of rooms and literally scrub walls it's gross! And make sure there are always handwashing supplies in all restrooms and soiled rooms paper towels every single day!!!!! Speaking of washing your hands A LOT of aides here don't so be sure you do infection control!! Favoritism is terrible here I remember for a month straight I worked on memory care as a certain CNA refused to work on memory care. She demanded that on-call switch people around to please her. It did get a tad bit better a little before I quit so hopefully you do not have that issue. If so stand firm on your schedule they provide to you!! Communication needs to be mandatory about pay, w2, online access to payroll and handbook, PTO never used, and bonus' when giving your two weeks! I wasn't paid for my bonus' for shifts I picked up and worked thanks Ashlee had to get the department labor involved! If you take a loved one here have camera's!

Brookdale is a wonderful facility that truly cares for their residents and their families. We had both of our parents at Brookdale, one in skilled nursing rehab and the other in Clare Bridge. All staff was considerate and caring to our parents and us. I was impressed how staff knew everyone by name and took time to listen to them and help them. So many wonderful individuals that truly love what they do and it shows!
My family is NOT satisfied with the care here in the slightest. The staff are always sitting behind the desk either talking or fighting with eachother. Anytime we have had any sort of question or request the staff has been rude and dismissive. All the patients here look sad and depressed because there is quite literally nothing to do. Rather then ALL the staff sitting behind the desk bickering with one one another, I’d think interacting and coming up with activities with the patients would be a better use of their time while on the clock, no? I would like to bring some appreciation to Toni though. She is hands down the best and the only staff member there who seems to actually care about the patients here. I would love to see the other staff learn a thing or two from Toni.
My mom was at Brookdale Overland Park Skilled Care for nine weeks and it was outstanding! The staff there is very caring and their physical therapists did wonders with being able to get my mom back up and on her feet and able to return to her Independent Living facility. I highly recommend Brookdale Oveland Park!
The staff is terrible. The purpose of a person being there is for help. Right? The physical Therapist are not understanding they assume instead of asking questions. As a person in the health care field I do it because I love it not for the money. Unfortunately there you can tell it just a job for several employees. Only nice thing are the patients are friendly.
