The staff at Brookdale is *amazing*! They really went above and beyond in getting my mom moved in quickly and comfortably - being available over a holiday weekend and working closely with us and with my mom's rehab center to get all necessary paperwork complete. My mom recently moved to Brookdale after graduating from rehab following a broken hip. We looked at A LOT of care facilities in the area, and she chose Brookdale because of its size (19 residents max), its impressive staff-to-resident ratio, and its commitment to her continued physical improvement. The small size combined with the warmth, kindness, and consistency of the staff make it feel very much like home. It's wonderful to have her in a place where the staff cares that she likes Ken-ken puzzles and hates cottage cheese. Follow-up 6 months after moving in: While my mom has mostly been well-cared for at Brookdale, we've been very disappointed in the (lack of) activities and the quality of the food (where are the vegetables?). They prominently display busy activity schedules and healthy menus and then completely ignore them. They seem to have enough staff and many of them are wonderful, and they seem to have plenty of money to buy fancy things like large tvs and game boards. I'm not sure why you need that stuff if no one is going to spend time using it with the residents. Feels very much like it's all for show.

Brookdale Assisted Living in Onalaska WI is a great place. My Mother in law is a resident there and she gets top notch care. Staff are knowledgeable and love the residents they care for. I am always kept up to date with her care and her room is always clean and orderly. Billie is a wonderful leader and I recommend Brookdale Assisted living to any one looking for great care.
My brother is a Vietnam war veteran who had direct contact with Agent Orange. He has had cancer, treated with radiation which caused dementia. He was in a different facility and was mentally and emotionally abused. Since he has lived at Brookdale he has been treated properly and has the assistance and understanding he needs to live his life to the best of his ability. The staff treats him kindly even when he gets a little grouchy, they know how to joke with him to better his mood. He loves having the bird to talk to.
Absolutely beautiful facility tucked away in Onalaska! Wonderful staff who are there to care for you or your loved ones through clinical, activities, culinary and much more. Would highly recommend this facility!
