We visited Brookdale and in the end my mother chose to go to FL to another Brookdale community. That bring said, I cannot say enough great things about the management of Brookdale, Newnan. Jonathon made my mother feel like she was family from the moment we walked in.

I have been waiting to write this review until after I got my Dad completely moved out. He has lived Brookdale Newnan for over 2 years. At first we absolutely loved them. Since about mid-June 2023 they have experienced a high turn over rate, with the exception of one or two employees that have been with the company for 15-20 years. The current staff is either inexperienced or just does not give a damn about the residents and only there for a pay check. I personally equate this to the new management. Shavonda just radiated a vibe that she genuinely cared about her residents. Since she left it seems the quality of care has greatly diminished. As a family that visited the home ATLEAST once a week we also got to know other residents and families, and as a whole we have all discussed the aspects regarding the care our family members were now receiving. As of Sunday, I said enough was enough and decided to pull my dad from Brookdale and I know of a couple of other families that will be doing the same once they can make the arrangements. The 1st time I met the current property manager, Shelia, was when she called to tell me they would be charging me for their front door. My dad had ran into it with his wheelchair when attempting to go outside. The handicap accessibility on this door has sparsely worked since before he has gotten there and the door didn’t open properly. If the door is not working properly and a resident hits it with their wheelchair due to the poorly maintained handicap access then that you're liable. My dad’s wheelchair is now disabled and has been for about 2 months, The company who we purchased his electric wheelchair states someone disabled his wheelchair battery. Hmmm, that’s kind of controlling and petty. Around October they came to me and requested I have my dad re-evaluated for his wheelchair usage, he accidental hit a table in their lobby. This was his 2nd accident in his chair. I completely agree that he did need to be evaluated to ensure he could safely operate his chair as he was when he first received it. I was told they needed one of the providers I work for to order the evaluation and an overall evaluation for his services because it has been over 6 months since he last saw his PCP through them. They also stated its been a while since the PCP has seen anyone at their facility and it was not known when he would be back out. Residents are supposed to have access to their residential PCP and the PCP is supposed to check in with the residents monthly, just a little FYI, it is spelled out in the Medicare guidelines for assistant living communities. But ok this was no problem, I am in an unique situation where 1. I can take the time off to bring him into my office to be seen and 2. My providers are all about helping their work family (as they would any patient but still I want to feel special lol). So I was able to get this done quickly. Brookdale held one of my dad’s prescriptions for almost 4 months, despite his neurologist directly phoning it in and them charging him over $500 for it. If they don't deem a prescription as an order they could have said something much sooner. Overall really poor communication regarding my dad. When we would come to see him he would be in filthy clothes, and dried food on his face. Over the weekend I moved my dad out, upon doing so we found open wounds on him. What else have we not be notified about over the past 6-7 months under this new management? My dad is non-verbal in the sense it is hard to understand him due to a history of multiple strokes. He was paying $5700 a month for decline in quality of services and treatment. This is really just a couple of issues we have had recently, there are many more I can throw out there regarding sanitation. I will say that the corporate level is awesome in regarding the billing department. They seem more than willing to work with their residences and former residents then loose. Sorry this is all over the place half of it had to be deleted in order to post.
My mom lived at Brookdale for the last eight years of her life. Every day she thanked me for finding them. I never worried about her because the staff at Brookdale was like having family taking care of her. They are wonderful, compassionate and caring.
Awesome community with amazing management and staff. The Executive Director goes out of her way to make the experience there first rate. The Sales Manager has a lot of integrity and works for the best interest of potential residents. Love this place!
