My husband was manhandled by 2 aides and a nurse to take a shower. This was 5 hours after he was found on the floor of his room . No one helped him with feeding. He was out to bed 3 hours after his bedtime because"he was watching a movie". He can't follow a 10 second ad so how was he following a movie?? One of the aides was doing a double shift. Everyday people were doing double shifts. As he was watching the movie an aide went to his room hourly to push the button that she had checked in him. ..overnight she did the same...did not even look at the bed or take another step into room. Overhead light was left on all night..like in the Gulag. I put in a camera that might to get a better view because their fall camera doesn't cover the whole room...after how I saw how they handled him and the hourly "check" I pulled him. One aide for 9 residents is not enough. One meal was a choice between hot dogs and beans or sausage and potatoes... No communication on his habits or needs...aides had no clue about him .No admission meeting between me and treatment team. Spiders in the bathroom and debris on move in day. Have seen other places...ratio of residents to aides much better .1 to 6 or 1 to 5. Head of memory care is on floor not in an office somewhere else .Price not much different. Facilities amazing ... My last image is of a resident in a wheelchair totally dependent with breakfast in front of him and no one fed him...this went on for over an hour. We left...on day of admission a family member of another resident told me I had to be there every single day . And, the nurse's visit to your home for the evaluation is charged to your insurance..they charge 7500 as an admission fee... shouldn't the visit be covered by that?? It was a traumatic experience to say the least. So one star because you can't give a NO STAR!
Congratulations on being named to the US News Best of Assisted Living list! So proud of all that Bridges Trumbull does for their residents and team members!
TLDR: Facility is welcoming and clean, food is good, activities are consistent. I highly recommend. Parent resided here for ~4.5 years. Long version: The obvious: We didn't want to need to move our then-mid-60's mother into a memory care facility. But the reality is that it was the safest, most enriching choice for her. Though Bridges may come out a little more expensive at times or in the end, compared to tiered-care facilities, knowing the price is set each month gave our family piece of mind. When selecting Bridges, we were also drawn to the fact that all the residents require memory care; therefore, everything is built and all staff are trained around that reality. Checking in at the desk as a visitor and then having the freedom to move about the building made visits efficient and removed the need to interrupt a staff member in order to be let in/out as a guest. Unfortunately, the COVID-19 pandemic began just months after mom moving in. So, there went the outings! But the 4-household structure helped control spread and the staff was very communicative with our family as things evolved. We always felt Bridges did the best they could during that very challenging time. They even started video calls with family members which are now a staple for family who lives out of state. Outdoor space is great. Staff is loving, friendly, and kind. Thank you Bridges!
