I am perplexed at the allegations made against the works at the food pantry at Blue Cap. The ladies who run it along with the help of volunteers serves Blue Island, Robbins and the surrounding communities each and every Tuesday with style and grace. Making sure EVERYONE is treated with the upmost level of respect. Even though they are not in the spotlight, they are the backbone of food pantry. The Greater Chicago Food Depository could not keep the pantry running without their hard work and dedication of the Blue Cap employees and volunteers. I would like to take this opportunity to say thank you to the Blue Cap employees and volunteers for the energy and passion they put into the cause. You guys are remarkable human beings with a big heart for others. You rarely meet people so selfless and devoted, The Greater Chicago Food Depository and Blue Cap are blessed to have such remarkable people on staff!

I was just informed on an incident that happened and shouldn’t happen again, for context my family members usually come here to get food but recently today on July, 23, 2024 two big, grown lady’s where being rude to the people in the line just because they left there chairs and left, even though they were early, she was also yelling at another 3 lady’s one including being my mom and the other being my cousin, then proceeded to tell another man to keep watch outside the line while she grabbed the tickets and gave them to the people, she told the man to not give any to my mom, cousin, and another lady, she refused to serve them until a while longer but all she kept doing was telling everyone there about my mom, cousin, and lady leaving the chairs and leaving even though they were there early, after that the First Lady had said this kind of stuff from the 2 big, lady’s always happen and that the two grown lady’s always argued and criticized the people in line, this is not okay. I just wanted to say that I would hate for this to happen even though my mom and cousin weren’t hurt by her words, the feelings of a daughter hearing my mom when she says this happened to her was heartbreaking. I would hate for anyone else’s kids hearing their mom come home to getting treated badly at a pantry. This isn’t okay and the thing that made it worse is that a lady had told us these 2 grown lady’s working there used to hit people when they got mad, even after saying that this time she wouldn’t do it because she was getting herself ready for something, what? I don’t know, this place was a good place until they hired 2 unprofessional big, lady’s who criticizes people and not to also mention she likes boys that are younger than her she currently has a boyfriend age 16, they should really get an actual worker that is nice to the people, no one should be treated this bad at a pantry, they should really hire an actual capable worker, I will also like to have a talk with the people in charge of this pantry. And an actual police officer being here would be nice too, for safety, again this is not okay for 2 big, grown ladies to be yelling at my mom or anyone. God bless you..
The amount of food they give you, the supplies they give you (masks, tooth brush, tooth paste etc) are all really amazing things to help families in need. Such a kind staff that works there and very fast as well. Really appreciate the people who donate or volunteer. They do an amazing job helping their community

First time there and this place is Awesome, people Are friendly and it wasn’t that long of a wait then they give good variety of great food. Definitely will be coming back and recommend
