I had a positive experience at Benton’s Lodge respite age care. Initially, I felt hesitant about leaving my mother in someone else’s care. The first few days I visited her every day but soon the staff reinsure me that she was comfortable and she was engaged in various activities which allowed me to relax and enjoy some much-needed time for myself. By the end of her stay, which I extended it to extra time I felt completely confident in the care she received, and it was reassuring to see her happy and thriving in such a supportive environment. My mother moved into Bentons Lodge during 2020 to support her husband, who required increasing levels of care as she couldn’t be certain of daily visits due to Victorian lockdown rules. Bentons Lodge became home and she settled into life at Bentons Lodge actively participating in the lifestyle program, making friends and always enjoyed a chat with staff. Mum had many health challenges which were always well managed by her GP and Nursing staff. As she became more frail, staff recognised her changing care needs although being fiercely independent she would not call for assistance and this too was recognised by the caring staff at Benton’s Lodge who encouraged mum to accept more help, always respecting her dignity and desire to be as independent as possible. Mum recently passed away and after such a long involvement with Benton’s Lodge I can say Mum felt safe and secure there, she was respected and her care provided her with comfort and dignity. Her end of life care was excellent and she was pain free. Thankyou to the many staff at Bentons Lodge who have touched Mums life and that of her family over the past 5 years.
I spent a lot of time at Benton’s Lodge as my Mum went in for respite for approximately 4 weeks. The staff are magnificent, all very caring. The food is great and plentiful and the leisure activities were well thought out and varied. Live music and happy hour was fun too. Dancing and a wine and finger food, it was so insightful watching the interactions with the residents and the staff, such kindness and respect. Mum was not sure at first, but the staff managed to get her involved with activities and dining with other residents. If your considering this aged care, go and take a look for yourself.

Thankyou to all the staff at Benton's Lodge for all of the kindness and respect that you show every day to each other, the residents and families who visit. As a health professional I always believed that I could look after my mother. Early this year I had to try and convince my mother that she needed more care than I could provide. She reluctantly agreed to "try" Benton's Lodge. Mum has been a resident now for nearly 10 weeks and I cannot be more grateful for the respect and dignity that has been shown towards her. She feels safe and is thankful for feeling like she can still have a quality of life which is meaningful for her. Nothing is ever to hard and the staff always greet me with a smile and know my name. It is the small things that make a difference and I see this every time I visit. Making the decision for a relative to go into care is traumatic and not easy. I am so thankful to the staff at Benton's Lodge for treating mum and all of the residents with so much respect and genuinely working hard as a team to provide the most outstanding care in a warm, inclusive and friendly environment.
