Our Dad who is over 90 moved into the assisted living section after breaking a hip, along with other challenges which had impacted his overall outlook while living somewhat isolated at home. After the first month at Benchmark Shrewsbury we saw a remarkable turn-around in his appearance and attitude. The spark is back and he is fully engaged in the daily social activities offered, including daily exercise sessions. He enjoys the food, and the staff are both friendly and knowledgeable. Beth and Sue were great to work with getting him set up and moved in on an expedited schedule. Our family feels good knowing he is being looked after by professionals with help available 24/7. A gamechanger for us as a family.

My Dad recently moved from an assisted living facility in FL to Benchmark in Shrewsbury. I can’t say enough about the difference in the care provided. From the Executive Director, the salesperson, head of nursing and the aids, all are focused on the quality of care provided to the residents. The right hand knows what the left hand is doing! For those responsible for seniors in our lives, Benchmark provides you with peace of mind so you can focus on spending quality time with your loved ones.
After several years of caring for Mom at home, her primary caregiver had a medical incident and could not do it as much. We had to find a care facility that could handle Mom's dementia. Our first choice had no rooms and a long waiting list. We were desperate to get 24/7 care. This place has a dementia wing but not the skills needed to care for their residents. In the year that she was there, they lost her $1,800 hearing aids and her teeth. No accountability or even the slightest of apology. Their admission waiver basically said they are not responsible for anything. That's the only honest statement we got from them. No teeth meant she had to have everything pureed. A few of the people were awesome but they were stretched thin. Most of the staff were glued to their phones while non-mobile residents were left alone in hallways or empty rooms. Meanwhile daily meds were not given and personal hygiene was almost non-existent. Staff turnover was outrageous. In the single year there were 3 different directors new people almost every time we visited. Even simple tasks like laundry were seldom and clothes were lost. We finally got her out of there and into a much better facility.
Though we did not choose to the Senior living at Shrewsbury Crossing, I had been speaking with Susan through my search for an assistedLiving for my father-in-law. The information she provided me with was extremely helpful in looking for a facility for my father-in-law. Such as the 30 day notice in leaving a facility which my husband’s family was not aware of, question to ask other facilities. I found Susan to be very knowledgeable and helpful. Unfortunately my father-in-law’s family felt he was in need of a higher level of care and needing staff to assist in dealing with his agitation. I had wished my father-in-law would have let his children be more involve in researching assisted living facilities instead of allowing his second wife to do so. The place he resided was NOT one of the best places and offer very little. I appreciated Susan’s input and her understanding of my frustration. Perhaps my father-in-law would be in a better place if his journey with his dementia started with an assisted living who could have offered him more. Thank Susan for your assistance. Very much APPRECIATED.
I don't have alot of time spent at Benchmark ,but when i was asked by my friend to go and spend some time there with her mom to help with a few things Benchmark employees don't do i went . Why a care facility would not be able to help someone eat that cannot do it for themselves is beyond me. Any health care facility should be able to do that you pay for services a family shouldn't have to spend more money to get people to come in and help feed there family member. Some of the staff need more training on how to use a lifts . How to treat people as a real person and not a rag doll . When my friend and her family had a Complaint it Fell on Deaf ears . Nothing was done to resolve the issues. Again you pay for services. services and good care should be met !!! Some of the staff where good, but that is only very few . After the Experience my friend and her family went through. I would not recommend Benchmark. I would not put my family member there either.
