I found Bellewood for my mom almost 10 years ago when my husband & I were moving from Michigan, by reading an online review so I think it’s important to share a glowing review myself to help another daughter find a great new place for her parents. What clinched it was the reviewer wrote, “there are lots of fancy places with amenities elsewhere but I can’t get over the cozy feeling of family between the residents and staff at Bellewood.” That is what I needed - a quiet, safe apartment for my mom as she adjusted to living without my dad on the other side of the country. Bellewood’s grounds are a park like setting - gorgeous rhododendron, flowering trees, mature trees. It’s beautiful year round. There are classes, movies, theme dinners, puzzle tables. I am thankful every day that we were able to find this sweet quiet darling place for my mom to live so well. First floor apartments have patios and there is also a P-Patch (raised bed garden area). A Grateful Review for Bellewood Retirement Center in Issaquah My mother has been living at Bellewood for over seven years now, and I can’t say enough good things about the care and community she has experienced there. Despite vision and physical limitations, she has been able to thrive, participating in writing, creating art, and enjoying holiday celebrations and special events. Bellewood has given her the opportunity to stay active and feel a deep sense of self-worth. Mom is someone who makes friends easily, and Bellewood has provided her the space to be herself, welcoming others, offering kindness, and continuing to build meaningful connections. It’s clear that Bellewood nurtures not only the body but the spirit. The facility itself is beautifully maintained, with lovely garden areas where residents can plant flowers, herbs and vegetables, as well as water features and a new gazebo that encourage gathering and conversation. These thoughtful spaces reflect the value Bellewood places on community and quality of life. But what truly sets Bellewood apart is the staff. Some have been there for decades, and newer team members are clearly chosen for their compassion, patience, and ability to meet residents where they are. Their consistency, warmth, and attentiveness make all the difference. The food and dining experience are also excellent, nourishing in every sense of the word. While Bellewood is not an extended care facility, they’ve formed partnerships with external providers where my mom can get additional support as needed, making it a safe and flexible environment as residents’ needs change. There is a real sense of family at Bellewood and it shows in the relationships, the attention to detail, and the atmosphere of care and dignity. I’m deeply grateful that my mother has found such a great home.
My sister moved to Bellwood over a year ago and is quite content with her life there. The staff are helpful and kind. She's made friends among the other residents and is happy with the dining room experience--setting, service and food selection. She especially appreciates the cheerful help from the maintenance and other staff. Problems are handled quickly and people go out their way to make sure her needs are met. Hanging pictures, setting up her wifi, adjusting the tv service and other chores are things she no longer has to worry about. She also appreciates the transportation to health appointments, shopping and church and enjoys the occasional craft classes they offer. The manager is terrific and excels at choosing good staff. She responds to family concerns immediately.
I truly enjoy living at Belwood. The staff is so nice kind, and thoughtful that makes my transition to this community. Wonderful. I especially like to think Gege, Brittany and all of the staff members that have been so great.
My mom has lived at Bellewood for 3 year. The social activities available have helped keep her, at 102 years old, in great shape mentally and physically. The staff is wonderful, always willing to pitch in when needed. 2 of my grandson’s work in the dining room after school and enjoy chatting with the residents. Always something to do, mom is rarely bored! So happy she’s happy!!
