My husband's sister was a resident at Beehive homes for almost 2 years. We cannot say enough good things about the quality of care & comfort they provided. The facility is very well maintained with several comfortable areas to relax, do crafts, listen to music, or watch a game on the TV . Most importantly the staff are some of the very nicest people you'd ever meet. They kept in close contact with us adapting her care plan as needed. We appreciated that the kitchen folks also tailored her meals to accommodate her changing needs. Our relative felt safe and happy in their capable hands.

My wife, who had Alzheimer’s disease, spent the last 18 months of her life at the BeeHive in Duluth and I was very pleased with the care that she received. The facility is relatively new and is very well maintained. Both the public areas and the individual rooms are kept clean daily and the staff does laundry as needed. The food quality is good, with each meal prepared fresh in an on-site kitchen. Portions are appropriate and more may be requested. The Hive places an emphasis on having activities to engage the residents so that they don’t just watch TV. The activities range from chair exercises and light physical games to promote strength and mobility, arts and crafts, and singing. There is a daily “check-in” to promote social engagement where they talk about the weather, residents’ birthdays or other significant events, and holidays (ranging from things like Thanksgiving to silly ones like “National Hot Dog Day”.) They also do fingernail care and have visits with therapy dogs. There are several public areas in the facility and, when transitioning from one activity to the next, they usually move to a different area, which gives the residents a change of scenery and some additional activity. During my wife’s final months, the staff at the Hive coordinated their activities with the folks from Gentiva hospice to provide her with extra care to ensure that she was well taken care of. She was treated respectfully, kept clean and had no evidence of bed sores. With all these positives, we found that the real strength of the Hive is the care staff. They are a kind, caring group of people who worked hard to give the residents the best care and quality of life possible. My family and I were very glad that, at a difficult time, the BeeHive was there to provide my wife with the care and support that we needed.
The staff at the BeeHive are truly amazing. They went above and beyond caring for my mom. She received excellent care and attention during her stay. The staff was always friendly, helpful, and cared about her well being. There are several activities that my mom could participate in that allowed her to interact with other residents. The BeeHive looks and feels more like a up north resort rather than an assisted living facility. The BeeHive is extremely clean, comfortable and well maintained. The food was very good as well. On any given day we would see the owners Jon and Erin at the BeeHive talking with the staff and residents. I would highly recommend the BeeHive.
Beehive Homes in Duluth felt right when I walked in the door to tour for my parents and it continues to impress. Having one parent suffering a severe stroke 8 years ago and now the other parent with rapid onset of Dementia, the circumstances of a crisis quickly became a blessing. Beehive has the ability to do all the levels of assisted living care, memory care and end of life care without having both parents separated by locked wings or floors. This was extremely important. My dad feels at ease and my mom is thriving! I want to thank owners Jon and Erin, management staff, nurses, aides, cooks, maintenance, cleaning staff and all the activity volunteers for helping make all of this more comforting.
When we entered the BeeHive we knew it was the perfect Home for our loved one- the amenities are beautiful with a cozy feel, lots of sunlight and never looking like a medical setting. More important is the amazing staff- from management, nurses and nursing assistants to housekeeping and dining services- all are professional and do their work as a Team with a smile and a kind word. There is no pretense the staff truly want to work with people with Dementia. We are so fortunate to have our family member in the safe and loving care of the BeeHive.
