My mother went to Beechwood into Hospice care after celebrating her 94th birthday. Her BMG doctor told me to keep her comfortable as it may not be long. The nurses and aides are taking such good care of her that she was discharged from Hospice. Her PT has been so good she can stand up and take a few assisted steps. Our family is happy to say thank you to the staff who have taken such good care of Mom….. 1 year later we are unexpectedly celebrating her 95th birthday🎂We are so grateful we chose Beechwood Continuing Care Facility on Millersport Hgwy!

Much like other recent negative reviews regarding hospice care, my family had a very negative experience with the staff at beechwood. My grandmother was in this facility for about a month and during that time, my family visited often and unfortunately saw many red flags first-hand. To speak only on my first-hand experience, I went to visit over the holidays. When we arrived, we found that her oxygen tank was completely empty. When we notified an aid, we were told that we were "overreacting" and that "empty" still means it "probably" still has oxygen left in it. I think that when the tank is on the empty marker and the resident needs oxygen to survive - go ahead and change the tank. Who knows how long she was sitting there like that? She also mentioned that she had to go to bathroom, and needed to go for a while. We also mentioned this to an aid, who acknowledged that my grandma did mention this a while ago but was told to wait because all the staff were on lunch break. I don't think people who are unable to walk to the bathroom by themselves should be forced to hold it until everyone on staff is done eating? Also completely unacceptable. And this was just my experience - my family members that live nearby and visit often have much greater accounts of negligent care taking place at this facility. For example, my grandma fell while trying to go to the bathroom after repeatedly ringing the bell, and no one came to help her. When my family member was visiting, she watched her try to ring the bell several times. After waiting more than 20 minutes to see if anyone would respond to the bell, my family member went out to find someone. When she mentioned that they had rung the bell and no one came, the staff member told them that the bell in that room didn't work! They all knew that, and just didn't bother trying to fix it! And to be clear, this is really referring to the aids/staff at beechwood as the few hospice nurses working there were actually really great but are unfortunately not there all the time. If you have the choice, please reconsider your options and look elsewhere.
My sister was left in her wet in bed until 1:00 pm. She was never dressed or changed or gotten up until 1:00. This has happened before and I find it discussing. I’m thinking of getting a lawyer. Being told they are short staff is a continuing explanation. This is more than unacceptable. Ian out of state and visit all the time. The staff can be nice however whenever I have visited it was like talking to a hearing impaired person who could care less for treating patients as human beings!!!!!!!
My mother was in for rehab twice. They let her sit for well over an hour when asking for help to the bathroom, most times sitting in her own mess. The help acts like you are bothering them...if they come, and the admins hide behind VM and rarely return calls. If you do get a response, you’re expected to accept when they tell you that they’re short staffed and just understand. If not, they simply don’t return calls at all. Absolutely horrible.
I was just wrongfully terminated from this place. They leave are short staffed, and most residents don’t get properly feed or neglected. The food os terrible there mostly comes in frozen and then heated up. They prepare the food without the use of gloves or hairnets that is unless state is coming in. I have also witnessed nursing staff talking rudely to residents which is really a shame. Now that the have fired me for helping other staff members I have no reason to hide anything. The staff is so lazy and rude they will ignore call lights for hours
