I love living at the Balfour. I think it is probably the best place to live in Denver. It is beautiful and beautifully maintained. I have wonderful activities to engage in. Creative Writing is a wonderful, intellectually stimulating group. I have an excellent physical therapist here, and a great gym with every machine one could want. There are regular exercise classes. The indoor swimming pool and hot tub and wonderful and offer many opportunities for exercise. There are book groups, writing groups, book groups, and many other excellent opportunities for intellectual growth. It is a great place to live.

My wife and I identified Balfour Riverfront Park in 2009 as the place we'd like to live when we need it. My cancer diagnosis in August 2023 made a move to Balfour necessary sooner than we'd hoped. We've now lived at Balfour for one year (Oct'23 to Oct'24). In general, it's a great place to be for us. But our most disappointing experience is that management is more budget-driven than excellence-driven. We'd been led to believe that Balfour would pay higher prices for excellence and pass those costs to residents in the form of higher rents. In numerous ways we've found that isn't true. For example, 1) A ridiculously complex meal charge system has replaced a simple, understandable system. 2) Hours of Transportation availability have been significantly curtailed, and Transportation requests require at least 48 hours notice--meaning bad weather requests are impossible. 3) A potentially excellent gym is degraded due to no on-site director, poor placement of equipment, de-programming of treadmills and other aerobic equipment, and no replacement of missing or broken freeweights, stretch bands, yoga mats, & such. 4) Staff turnover is exceptionally high, indicating good people aren't paid what they're worth. In sum, you won't suffer at Balfour, it provides a comfortable, safe, and enjoyable lifestyle. But be prepared for service and quality cuts in the face of increasing costs.
Balfour at Riverfront Park is a very special place. From the moment you enter the lobby you see the beautiful rooms so well decorated and more like an upscale hotel than a senior living residence! The staff is friendly and caring and the residents diverse and interesting!
I love visiting my grandmother in law at The Balfour. The place is beautiful and the valet parking convenient. The staff is also great. I like eating at The Peacock restaurant. The service at the restaurant has really improved but the new chef has yet to wow me. The food and service today at the 3rd floor restaurant was horrible! What is going on?
I believe the combination of excellent location downtown where there are lots of things to do, unusually diversified residents from all over the country, a truly lovely facility, and a staff committed to continuous improvement put Balfour at Riverfront into the top tier of retirement communities nationwide.
