Our father spent his last two and a half years at Avista, and we feel so lucky to have found that place for him. Two things about Avista stand out. The physical setting is dominated by large airy common areas where residents can find ample room to explore and socialize. The expansive outdoor courtyard was loved by our father and provided a great place for visits. Secondly, the staff at Avista were fantastic, energetic, loving, and respectful. Many of them became good friends for our father, who was happier at Avista than he had been at home. The front office was also very supportive and stepped up to solve many logistical challenges, making our lives much easier. Given the circumstances, we could not have asked for a better experience.

My mother has resided at Avista Senior Living Albuquerque for 11 years now. I am very happy with the facility and even more so the staff. My mother is very well taken care of and I have zero worries about her care or needs at Avista. I've often visited on varying days of the week and at varying times and the level of care is always very good. They have many core staff members that have been there for the entire time (and longer) that my mother has been in their care. The current Executive Director has been in her current position longer than any other ED at this facility and has all of the staff and residents concerns at heart. The consistency, the cleanliness, the care, the food are all at the highest benchmarks in the industry. They also engage the residents in many activities from group exercises to arts and crafts to singalongs. I could not recommend Avista more highly and know that anyone's loved one would be very well cared for at this facility.
My wife has lived at Avista Senior Living for the past 16 months, so I know the facility and staff well. When we first toured, Avista impressed us by the beautifully laid out, well-organized space the residents had access to. There is no crowding in the building’s common areas. And yet the general building plan allows staff to be close to all the resident’s apartments most of the time. As an added benefit, there is a beautiful and secure grassy garden between the two main resident areas with large shade trees where residents can enjoy being outdoors and lounging in two gazebos without restrictions. Best of all for residents, the staff’s goal is to provide compassionate care, and we have found that they work to meet that goal. The staff to resident ratio is quite good. They patiently respond to any immediate needs that arise and show genuine concern for residents in their care. Avista has several core staff members that have been there for many years, which speaks well of the management and operations. The staff enthusiastically welcomed my wife when she arrived and ensured the transition to living at Avista smooth. Since then she has received a lot of hugs, which is important for her mental well-being. Friendly and supportive, Olivia and Tori capably manage the operations and see the well-trained staff are motivated. My wife is prone to falls at night, so an optional AI assisted system can detect if she has fallen in her room and has helped Jordyn, the capable Nurse, to determine the cause of her falls. She also sees that Med Techs are well trained and very conscientious about getting the right medicines to residents on time, which is important for my wife. Always positive and patient, Joe does a great job engaging the residents in many activities, including enthusiastically reading the daily news to them. Recent special activities include a fishing field trip to Tingley beach, a visit from two miniature horses and an outdoor barbeque. Ray, the maintenance man, is very helpful, caring, and always friendly. Shantel and Samantha stand out as care providers who make a loving difference for my wife. They and other care providers are compassionate, kind and understanding. My family and I want to express our sincere gratitude for the considerate care that Avista provides. It is an excellent choice for seniors requiring specialized memory care.
A dear friend lived at Avista Senior Living for eight months before she passed away. The staff was very attentive, respectful, gentle, caring and accommodating. We got to know several residents over eight months time and they all appeared to be happy. The facilities were neat and well maintained. There is a large, pleasant common area with couches, tables and a large screen television. Management schedules activities to help pass the time for residents. There is a very attractive, secure grassy outdoor patio with benches, a picnic table and covered Gazebo where residents and guests can go without restrictions. I highly recommend this facility.
This facility felt amazingly vibrant and alive!! I Believe this to be true due to the activities that keep these residents smiling happy and profoundly engaged throughout the entire day!! Joe Ocana was just the best tour guide and was always interacting with all residents. Every single one of them would greet him with either a smile or hug wondering what the next activity was going to be and when... He has done a spectacular job of being quite creative in keeping these people engaged and asking for more. There was never a dull moment while I visited this facility and would recommend it to anyone seeking a facility dedicated towards Alzheimers and Dementia Care.for thier loved ones! They will be happy and stay both mentally and physically active with Mr Ocana in charge of the activities department, I can vouch for that!
