So pleased with the care and compassion of all the staff of Autumn Care of Shallotte. After being in another facility for over a year, I have a lot to compare with. Both mom and dad are settling in and very comfortable with the larger rooms, cleaner rooms and facility and care. I cannot be more pleased with the physical therapy they are receiving and both are walking on a walker again and out of those wheelchairs as they regain their strength. Thank you. Five stars.

Lying to me about feeding my grandmother and I know for a fact she did not feed her breakfast (I had a friend watching and taking pictures) we should be able to trust that our loved ones will be fed and taken care of. She may have a disease that makes her hard to deal with but she is the love of my life. I wish she could stay with me but I don’t have the room I am trying to work it out so I can do something else for her
My sweet mother just finished her 2 week stay at Autumn Care. I was very concerned about the care she would receive. She has had to spend time at other rehab facilities and her stories from her stays there were not so good. I was able to stay with momma almost the entire day while she was there. From the time that I got there I was impressed. The residents were allowed to sit outside under the large awing and enjoy time together or just some fresh air. My hours of visiting were really open. I usually got there early and stayed late. That was wonderful! When I entered the building things smelled pleasant- I’m a very smell sensitive person and this was a reassuring sign to me that housekeeping was doing their job but that also the residents were being taken care of. My 1st impressions of her room were “wow she has a lot of space”. The room was set up for 2 people but she was the only one that occupied it while she was there. They provided her with plenty of storage space and the usual hospital table and chairs for guest. The call button for the nurse was also large and easy to access. I think the first staff member I met was a CNA by the name of Rosa. She was something. A very pleasant hard working lady whom I personally saw take extra comfort time with a patient who was really struggling emotionally when they 1st arrived. She was always upbeat and concerned for her patients. That being said every CNA on our hall did a fantastic job. They were nice people and did so much for their patients. I think I met most of the nurses that were there for the “day” shift on my mother’s hall. They did incredible jobs. They were friendly and if I had any asks- they were quick to accommodate me. They were enthusiastic and very encouraging as my mom recovered. I saw days when they had all sorts of circumstances arise and they always kept it together and made their jobs seem to be a breeze, when I knew they had a lot going on. Great team! All the nurses I encountered were very professional and available! The one housekeeper I met was Veronica. She was a true gem. A sweet person who really took her job serious and came to the table with a personality that was just what the residents needed. A smiling face and always a minute to check in and see how you were doing. I saw her really take time with a resident that needed some extra friendship along the way. She is the best! While my mom was there the facility had a hair stylist come in once a week. Ms Martha is her name and what a heart she has. Nothing feels better than having your hair done. She literally made my mom feel beautiful again I could see it in her eyes. Ms Martha doesn’t charge hardly anything for her services but she is worth a million dollars! We really enjoyed our 2 visits with her and always looked forward to Hair Wednesdays:) The last group I want to review is the Physical Therapist. They are in a league of their own. Incredible Group. They showed up every time with a gentle but goal focused attitude. They were inspiring to be around as humans. Extremely professional every single one. They gave my mom a run for her money-they saw past her injury and they could see the true soul they were dealing with. They were thrilled to see her get stronger everyday. I saw this same passion for a return to previous health before injuries in all of the patients they dealt with. I literally watched the progression myself in patients over the 2 weeks my momma was there. THEY ROCK -Autumn Care don’t let these ladies get away from you-they are awesome! All in all if you have a friend or family member who is staying at Autumn Care take time to get to know the staff. They are truly doing a job that most of us can’t or don’t want to do. I know most people can’t say this but I loved my time with my momma while she was there. I never worried about her care. We had a great time playing games-doing some in room workouts-eating-talking and getting to know the staff and residents. I’m going to miss them all. 🌟🌟🌟🌟🌟🌟🌟🌟🌟🌟🌟🌟🌟🌟
