Super
So my plan is to have a lot of money when I grow up with stocks and let my money work for me and with a bit of luck I'll go on a trip with my chauffeur every day and the crowning glory will be at the end of life to AUGUSTINUM. If that doesn't work, I'll unfortunately have to collect deposit bottles and occasionally throw large stones at police officers. and look at this augustinibum from the outside, it looks very nice as it stands there.
My mother lived in the Augustinum Freiburg from 2021 - 2023. Since I was lucky enough to live nearby, I visited her there almost every day. Seen from the outside, the reception, restaurant and café give the impression of a dignified establishment from the 80s. Many residents may like this. My mother could barely see, hear or walk. To her great regret, she was only able to take part in the cultural program to a very limited extent. Due to Corona regulations, this was very limited for a certain period of time anyway. As the months passed, my mother became more and more frail and needy. I have no experience with another seniors' residence and therefore cannot compare how well or poorly care can work. Taking medication, dressing, personal hygiene, preparing meals, many things gradually no longer work. The alarm is often triggered by improper handling of the hotplate or microwave. I had to decide when and which help was appropriate and try to organize it. That wasn't always easy. There were often changing staff, often interns too. Some were inexperienced, which is normal. Overall, there were too few nursing staff who could care. This is e.g. B. a problem if urgent help is needed with going to the toilet. It was always nice when Ms. D. was on duty. Friendly, pragmatic and a good sense of humor. She was allowed to call my mother by her first name and could say: B. explain why she would now wrap her legs. My mother was no longer able to benefit much from the meeting point in the Augustinum. I had a good impression. Meals and drinks are available here all day long when residents can no longer go to the restaurant. If you like, you can sleep away the day in a lounge chair. There is help with going to the toilet. However, my mother missed a bed where she could stretch out. What is my conclusion? Like my grandmother, my mother was able to afford luxurious care and surroundings in her old age. I suspect my mother enjoyed it for the most part. At first she was very keen to get to know other people. E.g. to go to the cinema together. She often described the atmosphere as rather formal. Almost no one uses first names. She wasn't sure whether that was what the management wanted or whether it had to do with the structure of the residents. She was so thirsty for contacts, that was her motivation to move from her own apartment to the Augustinum.
I cycle past there every day. Very nice and well maintained from the outside
Very friendly and helpful staff. I take the Corona regulations very carefully and therefore protect part of my family.
