This review is for the financial practices of this facility/Atria corporation and not specifically the quality of the actual building/housing. I selected Atria Carmichael for my mother to go into assisted living as she dealt with her serious health issues. The facility and staff were friendly and nice. I paid a deposit of prorated first month and a community fee which I was told was refundable if for some reason my mom did not meet assisted living criteria via a 602 evaluation. My mom initially met criteria but rapidly declined in health prior to her move in date, requiring hospitalization and unfortunately a transition to hospice care. I immediately notified Atria (still prior to move in date) and was assured a refund would be processed. This was in late August of 24. Over the next month I was back and forth with Atria staff (who frequently completely ignored my messages) until finally on 9/25 I was told by manager Vanessa Jones that a full refund had been approved. As of 10/9 I still had not seen any refund so I called and spoke with Vanessa who advised she couldn't find a file at all for my mother and she would reach out to IT and I would hear back shortly. As of 10/12 I still had heard nothing and not received a refund so I finally opened a credit card dispute. The bank closed the dispute in my favor on 11/05 finding that I was entitled the full refund. On 11/25 Atria had the audacity to mail my mom a bill for the disputed funds after I had been promised a refund by their staff and won a credit card dispute for the charge that hadn't been refunded. Unfortunately Atria is a large corporation that cares more about getting paid than the well-being of the elderly folk that could use their services. Going after someone on a fixed income for thousands of dollars they were promised would be refunded is disgusting and greedy behavior. The residents of the facility I saw seemed happy, but good luck ever getting any money back if your loved one's health situation changes here.

Atria Carmichael is well-designed. The information I got was comprehensive and complete. They answered all of my questions and addressed things I had not thought of before that. The tour was well presented and complete to my expectations. Marketing director Karie is very knowledgeable and highly educated. a one available and it was nice. The activities were fantastic. A very large social life is available to someone living there.
