This review is long overdue, but life has been extremely complicated. Months ago, we found Oakridge Cottage through CarePatrol. My mother had rapidly declined while she was a resident in independent living, which came unexpectedly. I was in a panic and did not want to choose an assisted living facility with such a short turnaround. In addition, both my mother and her husband had significant medical needs and wanted to stay together. It was a complicated situation. The Director of Unlimited Care Cottages, Lauren Johnston, was incredibly patient and caring. She took time to answer all my inquiries (phone, text, email) in a timely manner and believe me there were lots of questions. I was coordinating with numerous family members and Ms. Johnston made us feel we were the only client she had. She provided an incredible amount of assistance and education—not only helping the family make the decision to choose the cottage but helping us understand the difference and advantages of a residential facility versus the alternative assisted facility type environments. All her efforts helped us feel good about our decision. The cottage has a nurse on staff, Jill, and she was an integral piece to this puzzle—ensuring mom had comfort and the care that she deserved. Sadly, mom continued to decline and passed sooner than any of us expected. I take solace that she was in the perfect place for the last couple of months of her life. Thank you to the administrative staff and residential staff at the Oakridge Cottage. Your care and commitment are unmatched.
