I like to thank everyone for their feedback. I would say that not everyone will always agree with management style but here at LaVerna we strive to make everyone happy while providing a quiet place to enjoy as their home. LaVerna has policies and procedures in place to meet the requirements of HUD and their mission. National church residences takes the time to make sure that policies and procedures are fair and equal to all residents. You can’t make everyone a happy camper all the time. I know with changing of management comes new faces and usually new enforcements. We follow a tight privacy policy to protect everyone in our community and unfortunately we can not talk to those individuals who are not listed on a residents paperwork or a POA in place. We do strive to accommodate as much as we can with still following the guidelines. I know that this position is only part time and sometimes can be frustrating but this is a very small community and it’s only budgeted for those hours. I am available Mon Tues and Thurs from 830 to 4. I also would like to express that 90 % of our residents are excited to having a new manger cleaning up the place and getting the proper paperwork In The files to ensure we are meeting the guidelines of HUD. Working together, being respectful and making sure to meet the needs of the community is my number one goal. I apologize for misguided management in the past of not following the house rules and therefore causes some black lash for the new manager. LaVerna is a great place for your love ones to call home. I look forward to working with each of you on any concerns that you may have. Thanks again for making LaVerna Terrace your home.

My parent has been living at LaVerna Terrace for several years. It used to be a wonderful place to live and my parent really enjoyed living there! My parent still enjoys the friends she has made there. However, the current management is the worst it's ever been. It isn't all those who work there, but the main manager in whom I am referring to. She runs the home like it is a business more than a final residence for those in their last years. She puts on a sweet face and smile in front of your face, but does nothing for the residents; only complicating their lives. Speaking with my parent's neighbors, they absolutely cannot stand her and want her out. I would totally agree! A retirement home should be a very upbeat, caring facility to give Senior Citizens a wonderful experience in their final years of life. This place, due to an overturn of ownership and management, has been lacking as of late. The current manager is only there 3 days a week. How can a manager run a large Senior Residential Home, having so many residents with needs, work only 3 days a week? This doesn't make a bit of sense and demonstrates this facility is run like a general everyday business instead of a final home for Senior Citizens. National Church Residences, the current ownership, need to show they care by seriously considering letting the current manager go and placing someone in this very important position who does deeply care about Senior people and understands their needs, rather than just the needs of the building. They need to let go of a dictator who thinks the Seniors need to "know their place". Someone who has difficulty getting along with people, especially the family members of those who live there. It can be a difficult time for them as well, watching their parent change from the people they were in their youth to those who need more and more care. Family members do not want to see their parent treated like an object and should be able to speak with the manager when the need arises. In fact, a good manager would insure, with each resident's permission, a list of family members that they are able to speak with them if the occasion should arise, because emergency will eventually arise. This has not been done. A designated family member or members should also be able to speak with a manager about concerns they might have about the management of the facility when it is perfectly clear that the management is not going well for their loved one, who may not be able to stand up for themselves, as can happen when people grow older. They need to feel that their parent is in a safe place, being well cared for, and that parent, as well as other residents, can speak freely to such management when they are not happy with how the facility is being run. Currently, there are fears of repercussions if they go to management with their concerns or if a family member goes to them with their concerns. When something is not okay, the manager needs to understand why family members might be getting upset. Especially if promises and reassurances the manager has made to the family about the welfare of their parent is discovered later on to have not been follow through on and the situation has become worse. The current management situation is not acceptable and those who are thinking of entering LaVerna Terrace need to be made aware of this. There are some very caring people at this facility, but again, it's one thing to be sweet and nice to a family members face, reassuring everything will be good for their parent only to have that reassurance shattered in the weeks following. Hopefully, NCR will finally take some action so that this residence, as it has been in the past, can go back to being one of the best Senior facilities in the State of Indiana.
I have a family member that has been a residence here for well over 2 years. She continually tells me she loves it here. The nursing staff is precise and very caring. All the staff members show her respect and take care of her needs promptly and efficiently. This is a very clean place. I am sure it's not perfect, but I would definitely recommend Provena Terrace. As for the previous review, which prompted me to write this, my family member's tv has continuously worked and we have seen no signs of bugs.
I am not sure what type of people you are but lately I can see a real decline in quality...these people are living in bed bugs and have their televisions turned off every month because of some stupid reason that cannot be explained with any kind of intelligence...Don't you think this has gone on for way too long?.....Please handle this matter with the knowledge that one of your loved ones might someday be needing help and living in a facility like this....a beautiful building doesnt make a beautiful life..
WONDERFUL PLACE UNDERSTANDING EXCELLENT HELP
