About a year ago we realized that our dear friend, founder of Several Sources Shelters, Kathy, needed the next level of care. We did our due diligence and found Artis Senior Living in Chestnut Ridge met all of our criteria, including accommodating Kathy's companion of 25 years, Rocky the parrot, as well as being only 15 minutes away from our homes and office. We had reservations... but have been absolutely thrilled with the care that Kathy receives. The facility is beautiful, inside and out. Let's be honest, we all worry about putting our loved one in a place that smells of chemicals to hide the other smells. Not at Artis! Artis is Kathy's new home, she has meals with her friends, they watch movies and engaged in wonderful activities. Sheree, the Director of Life Enrichment, has wonderful programs like "resident of the month", monthly seasonal celebration (Octoberfest, St. Paddy's Day, etc.) where family and friends are encouraged to join. My favorite is the nonprofit that Sheree partners with each month and the residents do something to support that charity. I loved the Dog Shelter they adopted for a month and the residents helped back doggie treats, and then they had a visit to the shelter. And last Christmas the residents put together gift bags for our mothers and visited the moms to distribute these gifts. And some of our moms and babies dressed as elves and visited the residents at Artis. Everyone's birthday is celebrated. Kathy's birthday is today. So on Wednesday, a group of Kathy's friends along with Sheree visited one our our homes for mothers and babies with Kathy to celebrate her birthday! Happy birthday Kathy! I could write more, but instead I will attach a few photos... a picture is worth a thousand words! Thank you Artis and Sheree for the loving care you provide for our dear friend Kathy.

Since the day of my interview till bow i don't have nothing bad to say about Artis i will highly recommend people to apply there.
My wife recently became a resident at one of the Artis memory care locations. As such, a large amount of pre-residency paperwork is required, which includes a form requiring a signature for electing to get immunizations or not while a resident at this Artis location. This form, as explained to me , "encourages" but does not mandate residents to get the annual Covid or Flu vaccines, among others residents my require. Is there a reason why the company policy is "encourage" and not make all residents get these immunizations for the obvious health benefits for all of the other residents? I find this policy lacking, but I know the County and State health department policies mandate no such immunizations at assisted living facilities, but as a private facility, Artis can and should enforce a more strict policy on immunizations at their numerous locations providing assisted living/memory care. Is it possible to "mandate" and not "encourage" in the future with a policy change in this critical public health area? This question is administrative in nature and has nothing to do with the high quality of care provided by the staff and facility where my wife is a resident. However, I do take issue with this policy as it concerns my wife's health due to a slack policy on immunizations. Please note I did not mention the location of the Artis location where my wife is a resident as I do not find that relevant to this question on immunizations. Sorry to write this in a public format, but your corporate HQ does not have a way to send a message on your web page and only provides an address and phone number. Update as of August 3, 2024 - I was just advised by the Director of my wife's Artis memory care facility that a staff member has tested positive for Covid. Yet, the facility, and Artis corporate policy is they follow CDC rules and only "encourages" residents get Covid immunizations. How about providing a direct Email Allison so I can reach out to you directly and not have to make my issue a public matter?
Carol, Dorthy, Maria, Rowena, Rita, Reza and the #1being Michelle are the absolute BEST!! I'm so grateful for all they do for my mom at Artis
I would NOT recommend the Mason facility!!! My dad was there for several years and died infested with scabies. It was passed on to my 85 year old mom and the facility denied any wrong doing. We filed a notice with the state. We spoke to another resident's family a few months after my dad died and their family members had also contracted scabies. The staff who took care of my dad in the back was absolutely wonderful. Can't say enough good things about them. The management is another story. I reached out to corporate via the website and never heard back. Very sad ending to my dad's life. Accomplished, highly educated professor passed on in the most vile and painful way.
