We are lucky to have found this facility whose staff takes excellent care of my grandmother. All the staff there show great compassion and skill in treating patients with advanced dementia. The memory care advisor Ana was so kind and was a big advocate for getting my grandmother placed appropriately, and has since really helped facilitate her transition from home. Brings my family peace to know she is in good hands at A.C!

Had 3-5 days to find facility for my wife with severe dementia. A Place For Mom recommended AC Annandale. Ana Copeland there was so fabulous in walking me and wife's family through each step. Great place: 24/7 monitoring of residents, great menus and activities, medical staff, in-house salon, etc. We're thrilled. Friends & neighbors who had investigated it concurred. Call Ana if you need help, she's a uniquely competent and nice person. EDIT 3/31/25: My wife has lived at Arden Courts for 45 days now, and they treat her with dignity and respect. They've protected her and taken great care of her and advised me how to visit her. Outstanding!
My dad had come from a 2 month stay at the hospital from a nasty fall requiring surgery to put pins in his femur to fix an avulsed fracture and 2 month stay in rehab. He was in the ICU on a ventilator and NG tube for most of the time. The rehab didn’t do a great job of getting him past eating mush. He dropped a lot of weight. Within the first week or so, my dad was back to eating regular food—probably because everything tastes homemade! He quickly picked up weight and got back to his weight. THE WHY & HOW As his MPOA, I wanted to take a look at other places that might suit his needs and to address and allay the family’s concerns about his safety. I toured several facilities and Arden Courts in Annandale was actually the last one I toured before my dad’s insurance gave us 24 hours notice that rehab coverage would end. Arden Courts in Annandale was able to make the change happen overnight. Why did we choose Arden Courts in Annandale? My family wanted, needed, the reassurance that the chance of another fall would be minimized and mitigated, and, at the same time, provide excellent memory care. Arden Courts in Annandale only does memory care, and has a hybrid means for fall prevention—staffing and AI detection. REDUCE FALL RISK The rooms may be odd shaped and small, but now I understand the concept. It helps reduce fall risk. There is AI FALL DETECTION in the bedroom and bathroom. The one in the bedroom has a camera so no one will ever have to go through the stress and trauma of an unwitnessed fall that could potentially be catastrophic and add to medical bills. The one in the bathroom is in the floor only. When there is a fall, a loud alarm sounds. The caretakers are there in under 2 minutes. This was one of the deciding factors for my family. MEDICARE & MEDICARE ADVANTAGE Most of the nurses and doctors used here are in network for most plans so no surprises. Regardless , you will know about changes in care before they happen. SET UP TO SUCCEED The neighborhoods are set up to help keep residents together and maximize supervision. Yet, residents can freely walk around to other neighborhoods or just in circles. There are gorgeous walks available outside, weather permitting. STAFF The staff in each neighborhood have the residents on a routine. They also ensure maximum social engagement by helping residents get to social activities in a common area—I never knew my dad liked bingo. They take great care of my dad. He’s never dirty, bad smelling, or sitting in a hot mess. The teamwork is amazing. FAMILY & RESIDENTS Today, families had a spectacular Easter lunch with their respective residents. We did karaoke, which resulted in some exercise. I look forward to more family events. COMMUNICATION I like that I can call or email and get messages to the right people. I am an email person, so this works great for me. COSTS No one wants to put a price tag on a family member, but inevitably this is a necessary conversation. They have a flat fee. No escalating charges based on random things like how many pills or how much extra care. The only extra cost I experienced was for Magic Cups, which are a nutritional supplements in form of ice cream/pudding. This is to recover the cost of the cups. Since he no longer needs them, we returned to the flat fee. So … If you’re still asking why? My response is why not!
After much consideration, we decided to move my 91 year old mother (who has Alzheimer’s) into Arden Courts in Annandale, VA. From the very start, they have helped make my mom’s transition to the facility smooth. Kimberley and Lisa came out to our home to meet mom ahead of time, and we knew from the start that we had found the right place. We visited the facility and decided to move mom. We were able to have access to mom’s room before she moved in and make it nice and cozy for her. The rooms are a wonderful size, are private, and have a private bathroom. Once mom moved in, they encouraged her to participate in activities and meet people. She joys the exercises classes and we are both participating in an art class together this weekend. The facility is laid out so residents can walk around inside in a loop. But, we are looking to the weather clearing up! My mom loves to walk, and they have an outdoor courtyard with benches that is enclosed securely so residents are able to walk outdoors as they please -weather permitting. Mom says the food is delicious and there are snacks available during the day. The little touches are what make Arden Courts so warm. Each resident has a shadow box on their door that can be decorated with family pictures. There are different nooks throughout the facility to sit and visit. For example, there is a library and a beach setting with beach balls. They have a large activities room, tv room, and even a hair salon. The staff is always smiling and kind, and they truly go out of their way to make the residents - and their families - feel at home. I have not had one complaint or concern about Arden Courts since mom moved in. I know she’s well taken care of and safe. I can call or visit anytime day or night. The entire facility is strictly memory care, so safety and security are essential. I have no worries that they have that covered 100%! If you are looking for a loving and safe place for your loved one to reside, please come take a look at Arden Courts. You won’t regret it. Ask for Kimberley and Lisa. They’ll take great care of you and make you feel welcome. 💗💜
Arden Courts has been such an incredible help to my family! We were desperate to get my grandmother the professional help she needed, and then their memory care advisor, Ana, provided us with such great support right from the start. We are so lucky to have them.
