Recommended - 5 stars (Buckley ward top floor) I am referring specifically to the top floor, as Carmelita Rudio is the best nurse I have worked with. She is hard working and very caring nurse. Carmelita is a dedicated nurse who knows everything about her patients from their favourite music to the time they have to take each medication. She is an exceptional advocate for the residents and it was pleasure working with her. I could trust my parents to be looked after by her. Another memorable member of staff is Neetu, who is also exceptional and hard working.

Absolute top-notch facility. A big thank you to Sam and his nice staff who welcomed me into the very palatial Arcare Essendon. I performed for all the guests and we were singing, dancing, catching bubbles and having a great old time. To have Sam dress as a court jester and lead the way, just signifies how valuable and loved he is !
I cannot recommend Arcare Essendon enough to everyone. The staff are like your family and very dedicated to all of the residents. Usually you hear that facilities with beautiful interiors don't have money for staff, but nothing could be further from the truth for this one. It is beautiful inside, and the staff are even more so. From the manager Shantella who is responsive and attentive to everyone's needs, all of the nurses Arlyn, Grace, Kate, Daisy, Anh and all the rest, the lovely physios, the kind care staff and all of the support staff, everyone always has a smile and is ready to listen and help. Even the other residents families are a community with each other. The food is really good too (I tried it!), and everyone is very invested in making sure the residents eat, because that is what families do. They are a really unique and well put together team that I hope never changes.
The process of finding an appropriate aged care facility for my elderly and frail parents was very stressful and an overwhelming and gut wrenching experience to say the least. It was both mentally and physically exhausting. After looking at numerous aged care facilities, we decided on Arcare in Essendon. My parents moved into the facility in February 2021. It had recently opened and was certainly 5 stars- beautifully furnished and presented. Although we were definitely anxious about the quality of care my parents would be receiving, as ultimately that is obviously what is most important. We are so relieved and full of gratitude for the excellent care our parents have received since moving into a Arcare Essendon - it is a very caring, supportive and friendly facility. Both my parents and our family have been given so much support, by all the staff, which has made the transition to care less stressful than it otherwise might have been. I cannot speak highly enough of all the staff at Arcare Essendon, from the ever competent, attentive, warm hearted and amazing Residence Manager, Shantala Suresh, the administrators ( for want of a better word - not sure of their exact job titles) - Alex, Vito, Grace, Essex and Natalie. The ever diligent, competent and reliable Arlyn Shyman and all the amazing, caring and wonderful nursing staff and personal carers. Kathy on reception,all the cleaning, cooking and laundry staff. Sam the activities and lifestyle planner - who has endless energy. The doctors, the physiotherapists, the visiting specialists, especially geriatrician- Katherine Miller. Grant the maintenance man, the hairdresser, the volunteers and I’m sure many others who I have failed to mention - they have all played their part in smoothing out what has been a very stressful transition. Their support, understanding and kindness has been so very much appreciated and will not be forgotten. It is very reassuring to know that if you have any concerns they are attended to respectfully and promptly. All staff go above and beyond with their respect and kindness. The staff at Arcare Essendon truly are incredible, especially working in such an arduous, traumatic and extremely stressful time in the middle of a pandemic. Their genuine care and affection for all residents, gives us great confidence that with the right organisational structure, values and support for staff, a great environment can be created in which our elderly loved ones can be looked after with genuine respect. We are so pleased that we chose Arcare Essendon for our parents, our concerns regarding the standard of care have definitely been allayed. We knew it was a 5 star facility from a physical standpoint but it is definitely a five star service as well. We cannot speak more highly of Arcare Essendon and are so very thankful for the service and support we have received. The staff demonstrates high level of knowledge of internal policies and requirements for their patients. Very friendly, displays utmost respect and empathy towards the families/patients. Would definitely recommend!
