This a very irresponsible place my mom was hit by patient so severe she lost concient for almost a month not a call to.see how she was or.talk about what happens and no report at all I asked how it happened and no explanation at all this is not good we're was these staff to protect not only mom but others this coulve gotten prevented if they were more aware this place should get shut down
My mother has only been at Academy Manor for 3 months. So far , the staff has been very kind ,compassionate.while attending to her needs. They are very accommodating & has allowed my mother to bring in any comfort items such as photos, plants& furniture from her home that would ease the transition there. I did notice on couple occasions hot food served were Luke warm by the time she received it. However, they do take into consideration her likes/ dislikes , supplementation & she is staying hydrated (after 2 bouts of pneumonia while living in her prior residents.). And happy to say she has gained some much needed weight.
My father was admitted Saturday to the memory care facility. The staff & doctor were welcoming & accommodating. The accommodations & common area are decent & acceptable. It seems like the unit is small & they try their best to encourage the residents to partake in meal time & communally activities. The nurses & staff did their best to easy my anxiety and calm my dad who was not compliant & in denial of his need for 24 hour care. We are hoping this will be a good fit for our father & he will make friends & be more social. In addition his sibling’s, niece’s & nephews’s are closer & able to visit. He was living alone & was often bored, depressed & would go out on adventure’s, & get lost. I do wish more information was shared with us & that the admission process was streamlined more. This may have reduced any confusion, given the nature of my father’s situation. Unfortunately, our family needed to make necessary arrangements to get him there from Boston MA. lack of a vital DMH required approved document delayed my fathers 1st attempt to be admitted the prior weekend. As one of my sister’s flew in from another State to help me bring him there. This resulted in leaving me without the needed help & left my sister with unnecessary travel & expensive airfare tickets.
The Academy Manor Staff (Unit 3A) has been great with my Mom and her advancing Alzheimer's. I feel she is well taken care of and safe in this facility. It's a difficult decision to make when you can't take care of your loved one at home anymore and Academy Manor helped me and my family work through this. It is nice that the facility is getting back to more normal after Covid. They have a lot of activities to keep the patients busy.
