I am saddened to provide a poor review for Amira Choice Arvada. My parents are currently living there, and while there are some amazing and wonderful staff members, many issues remain unresolved. We are currently paying between $17,000 and $19,000 a month for a two-bedroom apartment with assisted living care. One major concern is their inability to bill correctly for long-term care insurance. I still have not received an explanation for the significantly higher charges this past month. Initially, the management company, Great Lakes, was helpful when the staff tried to push my father into memory care after he came back from rehab with a UTI that affected his memory. Thankfully, Great Lakes assisted me in working with the nursing staff at Amira Choice, and my father is now doing well back in his regular apartment. Yet now Great Lakes ignores my emails and we still have no resolution to billing. No return phone call. However, we continue to face problems with billing, a lack of communication about the level of care we are paying for, and the unclear process for adding additional services without extra charges. It often feels like they provide only the minimum care without informing us fully. I've hesitated to share this review because some caregivers and the activities director are truly outstanding. However, I have also observed that my parents may be punished or set up for trouble, which is heartbreaking. One caregiver who I had complained about poor communication, then proceeded to call and wake me at 5 am saying she wanted to make sure she was communicating with me. It is very disappointing that a place that has raised our charges from $13,000 to nearly $20,000 since November provides this kind of treatment without adequate explanation. I've also noticed a real push to put people into memory care so they don't have to provide appropriate care in their current rooms.

I have had the pleasure of being the Life Enrichment Director at Amira Choice Arvada since July, and it has truly been a wonderful place to work. The residents here are so genuine and down-to-earth, and every day is filled with fun activities that bring so much joy to our community. It's been such a rewarding experience working for Amira Choice, and I’m excited to continue making more memories and inspiring our seniors to live their lives to the fullest. It’s an honor to help them enjoy each day to the best of their ability!
The kitchen and service staff is SUPER attentive and caring to the residents, i hear constantly how much they love and care for the residents living here. The food is wonderful and nutritious, and full of flavour. The cafe, even though it isnt running is stocked every single day with freshly baked cookies, and the servers are always happy to make a cappuccino if asked. While they are just opening and getting their feet under them, and sometimes certain things run out, they are always happy to find alternative solutions and options to give. Truly happy my family is here, and cared for 💕
my grandma lives here currently and I’m posting on her behalf. She calls me explaining how the food she is served is not enough. The kitchen staff is constantly neglecting resident needs and telling them certain things aren’t available when it states it on the menu. I’ve talked to many carestaff as well and they told me that the kitchen is not a part of the Amira Choice brand but its own company. Unidine. They will pack my grandmas food in a to go container, have it cold, not enjoyable with ONE food option. When she asks for more food, kitchen will neglect carestaff and tell them no. I’m very disappointed in the food system they have here. If the kitchen is not changed, we will be moving her out and will not be recommending this facility to anyone!
As a CNA of almost 10 years I can honestly say Amira Choice Arvada is a breath of fresh air! The management team has been an absolute dream, when you've been doing this as long as I have you really have seen it all as far as management goes. The team here truly cares about the residents and one another, I might add, We truly are just that, a team. I for one am so excited to see what's in store for all our future here at Amira Choice Arvada!
