I had a blood infection that attacked my spine. New Britain hospital saved my life. After two months and four back surgeries I arrived at Amberwoods on a stretcher, unable to get out of bed without the assistance to two nurses to fasten my clamshell upper body brace. About 6 weeks later, I was able to walk out with a walker. I had gained back about 30 pounds of the 60 I had lost in the hospital, because the food was good, and the physical therapy team was great. I even got a very good haircut and shave that took care of 3 months growth. The staff were always helpful, courteous, and compassionate. The only occasional inattention was when a new arrival required extra care and the staff all rallied to their aid. Their round the clock attention to medication was critical to the continued treatment of my blood infection, and their ancillary services like help with regaining my voice after the cervical surgery were all flawless. The administrators were on top of the paperwork too. They listened to my concerns and made things smooth. When I got home, I graduated to a cane, and then to just walking. Now I'm up to 3 or 4 miles a day, and in better shape than before I went into the hospital, I owe them my thanks.

My husband was admitted to Amberwoods last week and was treated with kindness from the moment we arrived. I was also given the greatest respect and got all the information I needed to help make the transition as easy as possible. I feel we found the right place for my husband’s care.

If I could give this place zero stars I would. My grandmother was transported there for rehab on Friday at 4pm. She did not get into a room until almost 9pm!!! They told her they would give her dinner and HOURS later they told her the kitchen was closed. She is supposed to be there to work to be more mobile and move better so she can be home. They have put her in adult diapers and it takes hours for someone to come when she rings the nurses bell and she ends up peeing herself!!!! When I call nobody answers the phone. It is ABUSE! And I will be reporting this place to the state!!!! How disgusting to leave a 79 year old woman in her own piss and poop for HOURS when the whole reason of her being there is to get her up and moving more! Also when she finally got her room after 5 hours the day she arrived nobody was around to help her get into her bed. My sister had to hunt someone down because they just left her there. It’s truly disgusting and I would love to have the owner contact me to discuss the neglect that is taking place in this facility!
I had a great experience at Amberwoods. The staff were really great and ensured that I was comfortable and they were all welcoming. The physical and occupational therapists were outstanding! I would recommend Amberwoods of Farmington to anyone who needs the care.
