My brother was here and some of the staff was rude to him. They were very unprofessional. One of the nurse's aides got an attitude with him and slammed his tray down only because he said he wasn't done with his food yet. My brother didn't trust another nurse's aid because she also came off rude and off putting and constantly gave him an attitude. He didn't want her to give him a shower because he didn't feel comfortable with her and she got rude with him and asked him two different times "Are you refusing my care?" Like dude he told you the first time that he doesn't want you showering him so what is not clicking in her brain??? And he said yes because this aid was always getting rude with him every day. Of course he isn't going to trust you. This place needs to hire professional workers that know how to talk with the patients without belittling and patronizing them and be able to instill trust with the patients because no one is going to feel comfortable being here if they feel like they can't trust the nurses or nurse's aids. This place is atrocious! Do not send your loved one's here.

My father died after one week at Altercare of Hilliard. His last words to me, which will haunt me for the rest of my life, were, "They never come! I call and they never come! I need to try to sleep off this stress.” I gave him a couple of hours to sleep, then called his room. No answer. I called the nurses station. No answer. About an hour later, his nurse called. She said, ”I found him unresponsive." According to her, staff members and EMS tried to resuscitate him, though his autopsy did not note any signs of CPR. "What do you want us to do with the body?” was the next question. I was not at home, so I told her I'd have to call back in a little while. A few minutes later, another call from an administrator, "What do you want us to do with the body??” I was on my way back home and told her I'd have to call them back. The level of attention you receive once deceased is astonishing. In the days leading up to his death, he had complained to the staff about their unresponsiveness. It would take over an hour for a transfer from his wheel chair to his bed. He ended up developing an abrasion from sitting too long. Aides would apologize and say that they were fighting against frequent staff shortages. All of this falls at the feet of the administration. CEO Greg Colaner, I’m looking at you. Do better. My father died of a heart attack while under tremendous stress caused by an unresponsive staff. Please spare your family members from this facility. I wish I had.
My mother was there for just a week. She is dealing with a brain tumor and has lost most of her movement and speech. Know that she cannot speak clearly the staff tried to get her to take meds that she didn't want not need. After my mother pushed away the cup with pills the nurses crushed up the pills and put them in her food. She spit the food out, again as she didn't want the pain meds. At that point the center called out to family and said someone needed to be there because she was punching and spitting at the employees and they were worried for their staff. (Really???) When I spoke with the head nurse regarding the incident she pulled multiple nurses from around her to speak about what happened earlier that day and continue to gossip right in front of me about my mother. I stood up for my mother and told them she didn't want the pain meds that's why she pushed it away then spit it out. After explaining that another nurse made a joke about how my mother was wearing her food this morning. I am very disappointed that the staff of a facility such as this, would treat patients and family of patients with such disrespect. If you care for your family send them else where...
My mother had a 21 day visit at Altercare in Hilliard! She arrived around June 21 and was suppose to leave July 14 the but left the 17th! She was to have therapy on her fractured knee. The therapy staff did an excellenr job and deserve 5 stars, the caringnstaff deserve 0 stars, they are very incompetent! The entire time the biggest problem they had was answering call buttons! They took way too long to help people to the bathroom, and if they had an accident it took even longer to get changed! Plenty of stories I can tell about the service and treatment my mother received as well as the other patients! They say they have enough help but what I saw every evening between 4-7 pm, was not enough help! The big guy came out of the front plenty of nights to chip in! My mother used a walker that got stuck every 5 or 6 steps, and tripped her up! When told about the walker they said it was all they had! On the 14th of July 5 hours before my mother was due to walk out, she turned on her call button, after no one came she went to the bathroom and fell, most likely thrown by that walker! They told her her ribs were bruised and made her get up and down for all meals and the bathroom! She cried those three days a lot! When she went to her Dr. the 17th, he admitted her to the hospital with 4 broken ribs two of which were broke twice! You should have alarms on your beds so you know when your patients are out of bed! You should answer the call buttons you have a lot of elderly there! Stop ignoring your patients and do your jobs!
About a year ago I stayed for my recovery after major surgery. The staff was great, and when insurance tried to send me home. Kevin and his team fought for me and I was able to stay an extra week. If I ever need to have surgery again and need a place to recover I would definitely come back.
