Horrible experience for my Mother. Total lack of any actual "rehab" therapy. The staff lacks compassion to care for the ill and elderly. They were not assisting Mom to bathroom. Not treating her nicely at all. Making fun of ill patients is disgusting! Social worker Debbie Holtz refused my urgent request to discharge Mom. I am her POA on health and explained she was receiving no therapy, and simply wanted to return home. I had care giving all set up for her. But you still refused until we had a meeting. Mom never made that meeting, as she was found unresponsive in her room. The person that called me also lacked any empathy for the situation. Mom had to be taken to Southwest hospital. She told me all she remembered, was trying to remove the urine soaked sheets from beneath her body. Mom is 92! Do not take anyone that you love here. It's not about being understaffed at all. It's about a total lack of actually caring for people that are ill. They even stole the homemade Christmas cookies I had sent. Stealing from a blind woman is not a joke, it's disgusting. I requested they pack her belongings as she wasn't returning. When her friend went to pick them up, nothing was prepared. Her expensive Rollator was missing, clothes scattered all over her room. Aid had to search for her Rollator and it was found. Clothes and other items were missing. I received a call many days later claiming they found some clothes. The person asked if we wanted them donated, then insisted they had to be picked up within a day. There were still clothes missing. Altenheim created much more stress for my ailing Mother and myself.

My husband Carl Immormino was there on two occasions. The first time was ok. Yea they are understaffed. But didn’t need much assistance! This last time well he had two episodes where he had to be taken to hospital..I just thank God I stayed with him because the last time his oxygen dropped and he became unresponsive. The paramedics finally got him to come alert after giving 6 liters of oxygen. Erin well I think she’s the DON..just stood there! Finally called an ambulance. My husband could have died by the time they checked on him. Anyway it’s a nice facility. Wanted to maybe go back because I can stay with him there but was told they won’t accept him. Didn’t give a reason. Pretty sure it’s because of the last incident and my reaction.
Both of my parents were here. Mom passed, Dad is still here. They both started in the therapy wing where we met Renee. My whole family LOVES Renee!! Just found out that she is no longer with the facility, but not by her choice. Really sad that they would get rid of the BEST aide they had! Dad is now in a wing where he sits most days without being checked on-even though, after a lot of complaints, we were told they would check once an hour. I get it, they are short staffed, but these are our relatives and Altenheim is getting good money to care for them. I just wish they cared a bit more!
A very close friend did rehab in there. More times than not, she was not given her pain medication and they would become annoyed with her when she had to repeatedly ask. They seem to be way under staffed, many of their staff has often been loud and dis-courteous when I was in visiting. There were some very nice aides however, who were friendly and tried to be as helpful as they could to the patients. Renee in particular was extremely kind. but overall I would not recommend this place.
I transport patients for a living, nursing staff at this facility are very rude and they can't even give a proper patient report. I wouldn't send anyone I care about here.
