My wife and I have been living at Allegria Village for a little over 7 years and are very pleased we moved in. Our drivers to make the move was to find a senior community that was close to our family, eliminated my need to do maintenance and my wife's need to cook for just the two of us plus offer a wide variety of activities. Allegria Village met all of those wants and then some with really good meals and well over 100 activities to enjoy. We're still in our 70's and have found many friends to socialize with in our age group but also have enjoyed interacting with older residents and hear about their diverse experiences.

I've lived here for 2 years and Allegria village is great and everyone is so nice! Cheryl was so helpful finding me a great apartment. Kim M. is always willing to help me. She helped me make some reservations for my family when they came to town.
I have lived at Henry Ford Village, now known as Allegria Village for over 18 years. It's a great place for my active lifestyle with activities to meet everyone's need. In addition, the location is convenient for shopping, banking, and a myriad of other resources. I have found the staff very accommodating and willing to go the extra mile to address concerns. The monthly fee covers everything except my phone. That fee also provides me with one meal a day from either the Cafe, or the 2 other dining rooms, offering a variety of food choices. Once you move in your set for the rest of your life.
The good reviews for this facility are perplexing. My family member went to Allegria Village after a fall and it was an ABSOLUTELY HORRIBLE EXPERIENCE!! Some of the difficulties that we experienced are as follows: They are extremely understaffed. The response time is deplorable. I have actually had to drive 15 minutes from my home to the facility to assist my family member because no one would respond to the call light!! The facility is in need of extensive renovations and the carpet is filthy (see attached pic)! The food is horrible. It is not pleasing to the eyes or the taste buds. They repeatedly ran out of ice, so my loved one had to drink room temperature water. All of the issues above were terrible, but the following experience was an absolute nightmare: One morning they called to notify us that my loved one was found unresponsive. Our hearts sank!! I asked the name of the resident they were calling about and it was the person in THE NEXT ROOM!! We were so relieved, but upset as well. This should have never happened!! The only good experience that we had at this facility was our interaction with the delightful office manager, Barbara. She was consistently kind and caring. If you love your family member, DO NOT SEND THEM TO ALLEGRIA VILLAGE!! I would NEVER recommend this facility to anyone. Don't believe the good reviews, they are terribly inaccurate. This is a horrible facility.
The residential side 4/5… the rehabilitation side 1/5. The staff and their energetic demeanor deserves a 5/5. The facility itself..deplorable. I visited my loved and because of the overwhelming smell of urine, I became ill and we had to cut our visit short. The smell of urine was 10/5 …I’m not exaggerating. So again residential side 4.5/5! Rehabilitation side 1/5! Staff 5/5!
