To say Acorn Manor has been a blessing and a life-saver would be understatement. Until early 2000, I had no idea it even existed. But when my mom needed full-time care and she was struggling at another facility due to lack of care, we knew we had to make a change. We had no idea what to do or where to go. It didn’t take long before she came to feel like Acorn Manor was her house and her home. Little did we know that within a few weeks, the world would be turned upside down. I have no doubt if it hadn’t been for the team at Acorn (Priyanka, the caregivers who tended to her on a daily basis, the medical professionals, and of course the dogs) my mother would not have lived through 2000. The staff at Acorn became like family to her – and to us. Despite the turmoil in world in the three+ years my mother was a resident, I never worried about her safety or her care. Anytime she needed anything or if they were concerned, they consulted with me and then arranged for appropriate medical professionals to take care of her onsite. When she went to the hospital, she couldn’t wait to get 'home'; as soon as she saw the caregivers and was back in her own bed again, she was happy. While the pandemic made frequent visits a challenge, Priyanka and the team did their best to make sure we could visit her there by taking precautions to keep her and the other residents safe during the pandemic. I have fond memories of sitting in the back yard with her in the shade, watching her smile when her pups smothered her with attention as she gave them a treat. As difficult as it was to see her decline and finally pass, I treasure every moment I had with her, and know that she loved the team there and that they loved her.

Acorn Manor tops the list in assisted living residences. It's not a "nursing home". It is a residence with caring and loving people whose goal is personalized love and care for each resident and family. For residents it is just like visiting someone's home. Personalized meals and not on a set schedule. Personalized hygene and loving extras like manicures and the little things that signal attentive care well beyond the basics. I speak from personal experience and am so very glad we found Piryanka and Acorn Manor. Best in the Woodlands for 2023 and it is easy to see why. God bless them all.
My mother was joyfully welcomed with Christmas decorations, cookies and her favorite coffee at Acorn Manor on Dec 23, 2020. Priyanka and her caregivers were a blessed relief for me because Mother had suffered a serious debilitating stroke, but was adamant that she be returned to her home immediately. This is that time in life when the child has to become the parent. It is heart-wrenching. The most important creature in my mother’s life was Penny, her loyal chihuahua. Penny was also warmly welcomed with a cozy bed next to Mother in her room. This calmed Mother’s heart tremendously. Fast forward a year and Mother is smiling, joking and completely at home at Acorn Manor with Penny by her side. The atmosphere is joyful, playful and full of party events. To say Priyanka and her staff go the extra mile is truly an understatement. Mother told me time and again over her three years at Acorn Manor how good everyone was to her. When Mother was called home by our Lord unexpectedly in October 2023, she was surrounded by her caregivers and Priyanka. Knowing that her last years were full of smiles, giggles, dear friends and pets around her left me with an indescribable peace. Thank you Priyanka and your beautiful staff for saturating Mother’s life with love. ❤️
I manage my father’s care from another state, and the time came to make the difficult decision to move him from hospice at home to hospice in an assisted living environment. A family member had previously told me about Acorn Manor and put me in touch with Priyanka Johri. Having experienced less than satisfactory care and environments elsewhere, Acorn Manor seemed like a dream come true. As hard as it was to remove him from his home, I made the decision. Last weekend, after a long ambulance ride to another county and much needed assistance from family members, he moved in. I worried that the move might cause him agitation and confusion, but he immediately felt comfortable. His room is very home-like and Priyanka and her staff were so gentle with him. Priyanka also runs Pure Mutts Animal Sanctuary, so not only was he greeted by her and her amazing staff but also by two very sweet dogs, Sarah and Peanut. I prayed long and hard to make the right decision for him, and every step of the way God has put the right people in my path. If you’re facing a similar decision and think there may not be a place you would feel comfortable leaving your loved one, check out Acorn Manor Assisted Living in the Woodlands. Thank you Priyanka for all the time and care you and your staff have provided to my family, my father, and me. I know he is safe and in the best hands possible.
My father-in-law is so well taken care of at Acorn Manor! Priyanka makes sure the residents are comfortable in a homey setting. The friendly caretakers, home-cooked meals, pretty backyard and homey decor make for such a nice living experience for seniors. My father-in-law is happy when we visit him and says every time that “they take good care of me here.” Priyanka makes sure the residents have their special food and drink items and never misses a special occasion to celebrate and have a party for the residents. So glad we found Acorn Manor!
