My Mom has lived at Abbey Delray South for 25 years in her own apartment, with brief stays in the Health Center when she needed medical care. Over the years, I’ve visited Mom and Abbey many, many times, and I continue to be totally impressed by the professionalism, patience, and kindness of Abbey’s caregivers, administrators, and staff. The facilities are well maintained and upgraded in the living and recreational areas, and in the modern, smoothly-functioning Health Center. And I always enjoy a meal in the Dining Room when I visit. It’s a pleasure to recommend Abbey Delray South!

Abbey Delray South has become the perfect place for my mother to enjoy her golden years. She is incredibly satisfied with all aspects of living in this community. She has a large lovely apartment with an incredible amount of natural light. She has a terrific group of friends and many meaningful activities. The staff are professional and accommodating. I am so pleased that mom is happy and busy and enjoying each day.
Mixed review - independent living apartments/homes vs. the Abbey Health Center... My grandmother lived in an apartment in Abbey South's independent living (unsupervised) housing for over a decade. It was a great experience and a good choice for a healthy woman in her 90s. Her apartment was bright and spacious. They repainted it every few years and re-carpeted it once. The weekly cleaning service was helpful. The community dining options are nice but pricey for the food quality. There are many opportunities for residents to participate in group exercise, lectures, art and writing classes. There's card games and visiting singers. The grounds and buildings are well maintained. My grandmother had a completely different experience once she transitioned to live in Abbey's Health Center. I was there almost every week to check on her. The staff is poorly trained. Many do not speak English well and they are constantly frustrated with the cognitive and hearing problems the residents have. There's only one real nurse (an RN) per wing, and she is overworked and has a terrible attitude all the time. There is a doctor on staff, but I never once saw him there. Many of the CNAs (certified nursing assistants) shuffle around slowly or are hanging out in groups chitchatting with each other and on their phones. My grandmother was often left unattended on the toilet, crying out for help. The staff would squeeze her arms to lift her from her wheelchair in a way that she said was uncomfortable, but they refused to change this lifting method. This facility needs better-qualified staff who are better trained to interact with disabled people and frail dementia patients. People in that profession should CARE more. These residents need lots of patience, empathy and kindness. This isn't like working at Denny's. The administrators are hired and fired or quitting constantly. In the 4 years my grandmother lived in the Health Center, I complained to at least 3 different managers/administrators, and nothing improved. I will say that the PT department is top-notch, and a few of the CNAs are caring women who take their jobs seriously.
PT Department is the best. Nurse's Aide Levee deserves better than 5 stars, as she is the best aide there. She is always delightful and performs her duties with the upmost professionalism. If ever I would need to return to this facility, I would like to have my room in Levee's section.
I’ve been at Abbey DELRAY South for nearly 8 years and love it! One of the best decisions of my life to move here. The people are friendly, interesting and well-travelled, the grounds are beautiful and there are more stimulating and satisfying things to do than one can ever do! I especially love the fitness, duplicate bridge and theater and concert trips!!
