My mother Nancy spent four years in st Nicks care home in Alexandra house. She loved it there and she was so well looked after. I can’t thank the nurses, care workers, hostesses and housekeepers enough for all they did for her. They all played a part in her care, and made her life so comfortable towards the end. I will be forever grateful to you all.

Worst inconsiderate staff who wake the residents up who live in the street every morning at 7.30am on their into work shouting and screaming . Have complained many times to management and nothing ever gets done so they obviously agree with this behaviour. I feel sorry for the residents off the home with these selfish staff members. Asked them to keep noise down they just laugh Their staff are sat out at 1.30 am in the morning shouting and having conversations on their mobile phones waking the whole street up so imagine their poor residents trying to sleep. So unprofessional and I will be taking this to their head office
My Mum was resident in St.Nicholas, residential,Care Home in Neherton for 4.5 years. From day one she settled and I can’t speak highly enough about the care the staff gave to Mum from the start of her time to her last day when she passed away a couple of weeks ago. Mum was in Gladstone House to start with for 2 years and Huskinsson House for the rest of her time. All staff members at the home, including office staff and the manager Jayms knew Mum and I felt comfortable talking to anyone about Mum knowing they had her well-being at heart. Even when Mum had her difficult days the staff knew just how to help her getting through them and back to her cheerful self. I would certainly recommend St.Nicholas CARE Home if you have to make a decision that you or your loved ones needed support to help live a carefree, happy and supportive time.
I am so sorry that I ever enquired about this place, as I didn’t know that a hospital can just send your loved one to these places on a 28 day placement. My dad who has dementia has done nothing but go downhill since he went here, from them getting him sectioned, to him ending up back in hospital and having a serious fall which resulted in him having a traumatic bleed on the brain. If I could go back I’d NEVER have enquired about this dreadful place. My lovely dad has recently died as a result of the subarachnoid haemorrhage he sustained in hospital after getting sectioned there by this home. I have to now live with myself that I sent him to this nursing home through enquiry only, and now knowing that they could not keep him safe enough to stay out of hospital.
Had my mother in St Nickolas for just on six weeks, within them six weeks the deterioration of my mums health and well being was horrific, after spending over £300 on new clothes 80% of them had disappeared after two weeks along with two pair of glasses and an new pair of shoes but that was just the beginning. After two weeks we began to see my mothers health deteriorating she has dementia and was put in the Gladstone Part of the building. Mum was prescribed Lorazepam for as and when she needed calming down. Mum was a healthy 91 year old was able to walk, hold a good conversation, eat and drink for herself but did have bouts where she would walk a lot and shout but this come and goes within a couple of hours but if it didn’t that was what the PRN sedation was for. After 4 weeks we seen a massive deference in mums behaviour where she couldn’t walk and was sat in a wheelchair and I asked the manager how many times there where giving her PRN there reply was I’m not to sure and couldn’t get a straight answer. Two weeks went by with me and my wife keeping a close eye on thing as we where there six days out of seven. We become more and more concerned over the over use of PRN. On the 04/10/22 my wife went into visit mum to find her slopped in a chair absolutely sopping wet and could not lift her head from her shoulders she quickly approached a care assistant and asked what was going on, the answer she got was “ oh someone must of spilt tea on her’. My wife ask for the key to her room and got her changed and ask for her to see the Matron, we kick ourselves still for not phoning and ambulance there and then. The matron arrived the next day and mum was sent straight to hospital where we found mum to have dangerous low blood pressure and severe dehydration this was a direct reaction to over sedation. After a inspection from safeguarding we found that mum had been sedated every night for 26 days 6 times during the day and once 3 times in one day there was no indication what milligram was given to her on the reports. CQC are now investigating this matter. We as a family are absolutely disgusted in this and we still have not had a phone call from them it was me who had to contact them. This place needs shutting down as my mother was only a few hours away from death and that all happened within six weeks with us visiting 6 days a week.
