My experience was overall positive. The care on the secure unit was good and my Mom was very happy here. She felt loved and safe and often received hugs from staff. The rooms are beautiful, private, and spacious. Meals are prepared fresh on-site. I visited frequently. Management appears interested in addressing issues. It isn’t home, but it is good. Negative comment is with respect to the provincial standards of care and inadequate funding for long term care. Without question, more staff are needed in these facilities.

My mother has been in Shannex Parkstone for almost a year now. The care she has received has been excellent. The staff throughout the building know her by name and always take time to stop and pay attention to her. The facilities are clean, spacious and well designed. They decorate for each season and design fun programs on the floors and common areas each day that the residents clearly enjoy. I appreciate that no facility is perfect and Long Term Care in NS is under budget pressures. But though there are problems here and there I have found Parkstone to be an excellent facility and I have appreciated their care greatly.
Husband has been in residence 14 months . I am there daily to assist with his care . Greatful for the kindness & professionalism of staff especially during Covid.
