Laurel Heights Retirement Residence, 3110 22 Ave NW, Edmonton, AB T6T 0R2, Canada
My experience with Laurel Heights has been truly positive. Laurel Heights offers independent living and supportive living options .The staff is incredibly compassionate and attentive, always going above and beyond to make sure residents feel comfortable and valued. The facilities are clean, well-maintained, and designed to provide both safety and a sense of community. They offer a wide range of engaging activities, from group exercise classes to arts and crafts, which my loved one looks forward to every day. Communication with family members is excellent—they keep us updated on any changes and are always responsive to our questions or concerns. I highly recommend Laurel Heights to anyone looking for a warm, caring environment for their loved ones. It truly feels like a home, not just a facility

We transitioned my mom to Laurel Heights in 2022 to be close to us due to health needs and we are so glad we did. Despite expected staff changes over the years and even an ownership transition while my mom was there, we always felt like my mom and the other residents were prioritized and safe. My mom would regularly tell us how great the food was (it really is great!), how kind the staff were, how busy she was with all the different activities and outings that were available, and the comfort she experienced both with her room and the facility as a whole. A walk through Laurel Heights will make it VERY apparent how many options there are for residents to socialize and be entertained. From movie nights, bingo, happy hour, morning exercises, special meals, birthday and other holiday celebrations, outdoor patio, city tours, and etc, you can tell they are very intentional about creating a wholistic and engaging experience for the residents. My mom is incredibly social and it was very easy for her to make many new friends but I think, no matter who you are, you'd be hardpressed to not make a new friend or two considering how many social events and opportunities there are. In the almost three years my mom was there, she battled with dimentia and alzheimer and its inevitable decline and we have been so thankful that in this season of increasing decline she was able to be at Laurel Heights. Having 24hr nurses on staff, a doctor who comes each week to care for her, dedicated case workers, as well as staff and management who are involved and showed great care for my mom, all of that made it so much easier to support my mom and help her have the best kind of life as she declined. She was safe, treated with respect, and they kept us informed and part of her care plan. We recently (December 2024) had to move my mom to a memory care centre and the management, doctor, staff, and transition coordinators all worked together to help us determine the right timing, make the transition as comfortable as possible for my mom, and were unbelievably understanding as well as being incredibly helpful. It was sad for us to have to move my mom out of Laurel Heights even though it was the right thing to do because they took incredible care of her and you can tell they really do want their residents to be cared for, have fun, be safe and enjoy this stage of their lives. Financially, we know that a shift to a residence like Laurel Heights can be a difficult reality to consider. We were fortunate that we could place her in Laurel Heights and, as we looked around, we found them to be very competitive, fair, and we really felt like "we got the most bang for our buck" to say it plainly. We still feel that way. There is so much included for their residents and we felt like we were never mislead as everything was done with transparency and with a lot of notice. We were told upfront, before move-in, to expect a slight, manageable yearly increase and they did not stray from that. To management and staff, thank you! We are so thankful for the time my mom had there as a resident and for all of you who showed great care and respect for her. We felt your interest in her and her care was absolutely genuine.
Right from the word go, our experience at Laurel Heights had been wonderful! From the tour, to the move in and sustained care for our dear Mom. So happy she's in good hands, in a beautiful place, with kind care givers and fabulous food.
