My mother, visiting from America, stayed for 1 week at Kyn, because she could not stay with me the week she arrived. (She came to me directly afterwards.) She had an absolutely lovely week there. The staff are very attentive and caring. The carer to resident ratio is above and beyond. (I worked in another care home in London. Please note I chose not to have my mother stay where I used to work…!) Firstly, yes, the price seems outrageous. However, almost everything is included, from hairdressing to physiotherapy. If you choose to partake in all that is offered (daily spa visits, chiropody, physio), then you are getting what you paid for. Believe me, there are very few other care homes in the country where everything is included. The food is delicious (I ate with my mother in the care home a few times). The restaurant staff are fantastic. The carers and nurses really care. The movie/screening room is amazing. The entire care home is fitted with Bamford products. Although this may not seem like a big deal, Bamford are known for quality and are approved for sensitive skins. Also, the care home smells good. Yes, of course, luxury care homes should not have that “old person” smell but Kyn smells good all the time. I cannot praise Kyn enough. My mother had a truly unique and enjoyable experience. Thank you for taking care of her.
My mother has just spent 14 days at KYN Hurlingham. She was recovering from becoming very poorly & being in hospital. From the moment we arrived, Sarah and all the team welcomed her with such warmth, friendship and love it has blown my mind. Everyone was exceptional. The restaurant food was fabulous and mum who has not eaten well for months was eating 3 course lunches & wine plus evening meal every day! Thanks Felix & Fernando in the restaurant. The carers are fantastic & the medical care by the nurse Vanessa was the best. She spotted everything straight away and got it treated, she phoned & updated me most evenings even when I'd visited in day. Mum had physiotherapy from Aditi every day which has got mum walking better & pain free than she has for years! I cannot recommend this place enough and I know mum was very sad to leave them, we won't hesitate to take mum there again if another stay is needed. Thank you everyone at KYN Hurlingham you are truly exceptional.
I recently attended a social function at KYN Hurlingham and much enjoyed the occasion. The staff were very welcoming, friendly, caring, efficient and professional. I had a mini tour of the premises which are of an exceptionally high standard and beautifully furnished. The garden is a lovely place to spend some quiet time. Anything that one could possibly want has been catered for. I am not in need of a care home just yet but if the day ever comes I should be more than happy to turn to KYN HurIingham. I am confident that I would be well looked after and respectfully treated as an individual rather than just one of a group of residents. This is a new home and under the leadership of the Manager Jordan, it has a bright future.
FIRSTLY I want to start off by saying that the staff ALL,the nurses, carers and dining ROOM staff were EXCELLENT, each and everyone of them. They are beautifully trained, caring and pleasant. Perfect! SECONDILY, I was 1 of 2 people in this entire facility In the brochure and the primary reason I chose KYN was their focus on HEATHLY food. This could not have been further from the truth and the menu is not directed at the demographic of people over 65. One does not go to a care facility to eat fine dining, they go to a restaurant! In the first instance I had a meeting with their nutritionist who came up with a plan which she passed along to the kitchen. Further I had THREE meetings with chef, manager and dining staff. During my three week stay, each and EVERY meal did not comply with the requests and or suggestions. It was as if I spoke to a wall of nodding heads. Based on their brochure you would think you are going to a 5 star perfectly run home, but this could not have been further from the truth. Food in health care is the most important ingredient in achieving strength for a person. Added 5 August 2024: After having already given a review, I was contacted by the Managing Director of KYN, who asked if we could address my comments more fully. I was very pleased with the conversation and that my comments were taken in good faith and helpful. I hope that the company manages to make positive changes and will become what it is striving to become in the Home Care sector. The will is there.
